I agree with all the above reasons completly, but although I didn't play much of it, But 'Return to Castle Wolfenstien' I believed had a very beautiful and complex flamethrower which didn't ruin frame rates online...Im not positive so don't flame me.

Mike is very right on that, the RtCW had a very advanced flamethrower. In games that take care into it, the flamethrower provides both advantages and disadvantages. The advatange is the area you can clear of infantry and the ease you can aim with the flames, while also reducing your visability and causing a massive explosion when taking a bullet to the tank. Flamethrower is something I would really like to see later in the game. However, I feel that grief points would rack up rather quickly.

not really melee range, but yeh. I have always liked it in games when you could hit the napalm tank and blow the person to peices, but unfortunately with this game, there are no hit zones, so i can find no way they could balance the thrower unless you had to get really close.

I find the burn effect on the plasma grenades, very supplimental for the flamethrower 'Nading has always been fun, and the small selection, which is sure to grow looks like fun already. I also like the concept of having the grenades loaded into the thumper.

if you guys remember, the devs in RTCW had huge problems with the flamer. During the oldold stuff, they had issues with dmg, then in the demo, early versions there were huge frame issues when 3+ people used a flamer at the same time in the same area. They were finally able to get it to work, but not after many issues (I think that they didnt find a real solution, jsut a good enough fake fix thing, ya know the ones). I think that with the scale of this game, that if you had a bunch of people using a flamer that you would have issues no matter what you did.

Well of course. BURN!
[Edit: On a side note, I think gameplay is going to be a lot like Renegade, nearly everyone in a vehicle except snipers and stealthers mainly (and the MAX for us), and the length of fights about the same. The only difference is the fact we have to take multiple buildings, instead of a base.] Last edited by OmnipotentKiwi; 2003-02-10 at 03:08 AM. |
