if your area is known to have more snow, they are better prepared for it so the roads will be in better condition. in places like jersey who don't much snow, they aren't as prepared so when they get a few inches they think "OMG we've been hit by a blizzard, school off for 3 days."

Some schools are still open here, but many are closed. Like electro said they won't really close school here unless its near impossible to either get there, or park there when you arrive.

I was suprised to have off today, but the wind here is bad... all of the snow just kinda gets lifted up and moved to MY house. But we got a nice 2 feet here too, so I'm happy; now I just need to get to Blue Mountain to go skiing.
