This is the future. Why is SOE still doing old-looking tanks? God. I'd don't mind aged old-looking, really, for PlanetSide. What bothers me is that it looks too old-looking for PlanetSide. No key significant sci-fi detail about this image - no low-grade standard version of something that is 500 years from 2011. Most of PlanetSide1 was the same! IT'S THE FUTURE HUMAN TECHNOLOGY AND ON ANOTHER PLANET! THINK ABOUT IT -- Step up the tech standard alot more, Smedley.
Though I can control my passion, I'm still rather greatly dissapointed with this image which could have expressed a "low-grade tech standard" of the future that is PlanetSide's future, which presumably could be NOT this image. Last edited by Tikuto; 2011-01-22 at 02:13 PM. |

You need to remember NCs history. Its a bunch of guys who dont have a real goal, they just want to have their freedom, and left the Republic because of that. There is no super big backend of crazy scientists like the VS got, or a giant military production line like the TR. Its a bunch of rebels, stripping together whatever they can get their hands on, focusing on the purpose rather than the look. It fits, perfectly. Last edited by basti; 2011-01-22 at 06:33 PM. |

Not too bad, it's a bit underwhelming, but not terrible by any means. Poly count seems fairly low, and the textures leave something to be desired, but then again it's pretty much staticly lit, so we don't know what kind of shaders or maps are going to be applied to it. However if Planetside is going to retain it's epic battlescale, they can't crank up the details too much. I always thought the models in Planetside were pretty good for its time, but it was the world and the bases that needed work.
Also, we don't know anything about this tank, other than it is a NC tank. We don't even know that it is specifically the classic Vanguard tank, so it's too early to compare it to anything. I love top notch Crysis graphics just as much as the next guy (if not more, I've spent a lot on my rig), but for a game like Planetside, I'm much more concerned about the gameplay, features, and stability. |

This is a pretty significant screenshot for several reasons:
1. We can 100% rule out The Agency being the new Planetside 2. There's still a New Conglomerate is Next, implying that there will also be a VS and TR, so they will retain the 3 empire system, thank god. 3. The simplicity of that model implies they plan on having huge battles. There's more, but quite frankly this single screenshot has made me very excited. |
