No auto healing at all(maybe if takes you like 5 minutes to do but even then, I can just imagine people doing this for the Kill streaks lol, if they give u something special).........I can just imagine people taking cover for 20 seconds to autoheal lol, damn talk about an OP Sniper.
Plus it woulnd't make sense since there is a medic class. |

Auto health regeneration takes out the value of your HP. When you auto-heal, it's no problem to jump out and get shot up a bit.
However, if you don't, you're going to take a lot more care in where you are and what you're up against.

1) It's a totally different environment and game to CoD, tactics and justifications for features from cod don't work in the wide areas and large combined arms battles 2) Have you seen the ratings on CoD MW3 videos, seen the comments? There is A LOT of hate out there (especially in the PC Gaming area - the main demographic) for Call of Duty and people are getting tired. Planetside needs to be Planetside, look at the comments on the PS 2 teaser; some go like this "OMG It's just CoD" or "OMG It's just Halo". The gaming world is filled with Call of Duty rip offs we don't need an original game to become another rip. Now CoD doesn't have medics because the maps are tiny and the pacing is fast, there isn't time for a medic to run in. There also isn't a community suited to having medics, they all want to run around with UMP-45 or Grenade launchers rather than heal people. However in Planetside we have a medic and a medical applicator, why do we need regenerating health? That just removes a huge role from the game that I enjoyed playing and it reduces the teamwork massively. |

The way he refers to it as "Strawberry jam" (read: condescending) leads me to believe that he doesn't like it either and it won't be in the game. And when I jokingly ask a question I include lots of question marks so... |

Matt said something about all classes (Excluding MAXes I assume) have the ability to heal themselves in some capacity. I suppose MAXes could do that in PS1 from Med terminals, but I was mostly talking about a Med App/BANK. I understand there are now "classes" in PS2 and your role is a lot more specialized this time around but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to do more than one your class is capable of to some degree. Since you're a Medic you shouldn't be completely useless and unable to kill anyone because your class Specializes in healing. Even still, I really hate the ideas of Classes in PS but I guess we'll have to wait and see how they behave. |

It's obvious that you don't make the medic a sitting duck in this kind of game. Ideally he' be able to pick up the basics of any other class but forgo some of the high tier stuff for the medic stuff.
Recently the medic class, in BF games for example, is decent on their own. Or even has the more powerful guns than "combat classes" like in BC2. BF3 has merged the medic with the standard assault trooper. Even TF2's medic can lay down some firepower in addition to his crazy medic-ing abilities. My point is, people should be able to get in a firefight and come out nearly dead and spam some medikits to do it all over again. It breaks the teamplay.

I understand it increases teamwork but it would certainly bog down the gameplay. I really couldn't imagine fighting in PS if I HAD to rely on a medic for healing because the default stuff they give me is terrible that is had almost no use. I felt that the healing in PS was balanced just find and I'm REALLY hoping they keep the Health/Armor/Stamina system they had before. It felt awesome to run into a tower, inflict some damage, run out, repair and med yourself, then go back in for another run. I'd rather consume a bucket of diarrhea than have some douche follow me around with his magical glowy beam of heals. An entire bucket. |
