If gravity is pulling downward and the magrider is hovering stationary, then it goes to reason that the mag has something that is at least as strong as the force of gravity counteracting it. Given the mag is still an armored beast that's still extremely heavy and getting underit could still be quite crushing.

The mag might be more maneuverable simply because it has no friction since it isn't contacting the terrain directly, nor does it have wheels to prevent it from moving horizontally.

tl;dr - it could still crush you
Who knows, but modern day hovering tech is much more lethal for a completely different reason: The amount of electromagnetic radiation would kill anyone coming near ^^

They change physics all the time whenever they need to crowbar something else in, i'm sure you can't really look at sci fi stuff and apply todays physics to it.

on a side note it works on anti grav doesn't it, which i assume means not affected by gravity, so ducking under is fine imo :P

Mag = magnetic.

It would wipe your credit cards, and redirect pigeons, but thats about it.

As long as you are only a foot high.

Anyway, I want my Mag to be able to squish people again; Prowler and Van still can ffs!

I support mowing. I never thought it was too terrible in PS1, except that speed of vehicles compared to people was kind of wonky sometimes (fixed with sprint), and the poor hit detection (fixed by being new, we hope).

This is not completely true. You'd need some damn powerful magnets and some things in people are weakly magnetic (like hemaglobin). Not to mention all the metallic gear a soldier has on them...that would wreak havok.

I'm imagining a magrider going down the road with an NC max stuck to its butt.

V-V-V!

This is the future why are we using steel?

"It's the future, neener neener" is not an argument.

Why wouldn't you use perfectly good steel. Lots of things make it a good choice, regardless of the availability of super-alloys.

Beside that, steel is not the only magnetic material. Some metal will have to conduct the electricity used in the suit. Not that it has to be a metal, there are magnetic ceramics.
Perhaps fancy future ceramic composite armor is magnetic.

You would need some damn strong magnets to levitate a tank in a planets magnetic field, they can have some bad effects - incredibly strong magnetic fields can actually induce emotional changes. Although blubbering soldiers isn't the same as mowing them down I suppose.

Wait, so you're telling me Vanu players being emo isn't a coincidence?

because all of the supermagnets they built the tanks out of screw up the trajectories

If you get run over by a tank, you should die. End of story.

I don't know man, Criss Angel got run over by a steamroller and he survived. "IDDQD" ftw.

But in all seriousness, I agree. Tanks should crush anything under their treads, rocks, trees, and especially infantry units.

TBH Tanks don't like trees, also rocks are pretty bad for your tracks.
