I have told so many people about PS1 just recently and no one has even heard of it let alone PS2, this would be mainly my halo reach buddies and friends from the army.

I still get a boner when I see the PS2 trailer, it looks amazing with the lighting.

The worst part about getting people hyped about PS2 is that I cannot in good conscious recommend buying and playing PS1...

Nothing like convos going like this:

Me: ps2 zomg
Them: OH MY GOD SO COOL looking but is ps1 good?
Me: uh... um. it's kind of dead and a rip off
Them: sad face

Perhaps they could also take the same initiative as bioware with swtor and let outfits pre-register VIA subsites they can create off of the main site.

It would spike interest as outfits would rush to ensure their outfit has a reserved slot per se.

That is true... because it is. Those who seen past it's flaws stuck with it.. and have a great fucking time... considering its not just a shooter with infantry.... it has aircraft, tanks, buggies, artillery. Teamwork, coordination and a massive scale assault factor..... That alone should be the positive points.... i mean ffs.. its nearly 9 years old... if they can't appreciate that.. then lie............ because when ps1 FIRST came out... it was so absolutely beautiful and amazing.. the graphics... the people... the warfare.... People may not see that much now, but shit man... nearly a decade ago......... Get them hyped out PS2 as I believe it's going to learn from it's predecessors mistakes.

I would like to get something going more at Hard OCP. There was a few topics made not exceeding 2 pages. What a shame when even crappier games have well over 10 pages .

EDIT: I read Vancha's post. I do agree with what he said as well. Maybe at least wait for a more in depth trailer/beta. Need something to keep back the SOE haters and people who are unknown about PS2 to get a good first impression. Something along the lines of jaw dropping (I wish).

Basti I would recommend putting in big bold initialized underlined letter this is a PC exclusive. Maybe not that much, but just make it clear it is not a console game. I could see people thinking this namely due to graphics. Lots of PC gamers namely FPS players love exclusive titles. While slightly different genre being single player and very up to date graphics this indie game is getting a lot of attention due to this and its called Hard Reset.

If we get the word out now and people see it NOW .... they will be interested in the future... this isn't madden, it isnt unreal tournament. People don't know wtf it is, so there is no point in advertising it 3 months before release as it won't get to enough people in time. We get the idea into heads now, and in a year when it starts charging out.. people are like " wtf I know that game, where did i see this at? " among ten other reason to pre-advertise... and constantly.

This is a new franchise for nearly all gamers... think about it... 30k people max have played planetisde..... there are 6 billion in the world...... It's not too early.........

That's just it. There's no suspense. People seeing it now won't give a damn about the future. There's nothing to show. There's nothing people will see and go "Oooh, shiny!". The only reason we find the trailer and information exciting is because we're Planetside's fanbase. What we've been given so far will mean NOTHING to anyone else.

I'm not saying wait until there's 3 months to release, but there's no point advertising a game that has nothing to advertise. There's nothing for people to absorb. It's just a lot of vague information. In terms of things people can check out, this game barely reaches "vaporware" levels.

And no, I strongly disagree that "Where do I recognize this from? Oh yeah, I remember this..." is better than "What the hell is this? This looks awesome! Where did this come from all of a sudden?!".

I agree that it's not too early to start getting people hyped for PS2. I already have a number of friends who never played PS1 but have already pre-ordered PS2. It would be nice to have a few more trailers and screenshots to show off, but we'll see more of that soon enough. In the mean time, most people will be blown away at just the description of PS1.

I have found it very hard to explain even the basics of Planetside in a short forum post. I have a different approach.

I have created a blog. Every entry focuses on some aspect of the game, old PS and new PS vary, some with more text (about game mechanics), others are vids, screenies, other media - and vids are in cathegories like vids of events, vids of "skill", edited and assorted gamplay etc.

This way you don't have to go into detail when you are on a different forum (where you may have not yet made an impact, so no one really cares about you). Just a small promo and the link to my blog, where everyone spends as much time as they want, no wall of text, no need to be brief, no need tell about every aspect...

My blog is under construction, it needs visual, it needs content (though I have more than a dozen posts in draft). Oh, and the biggest problem for you guys: it is hungarian! Title says "Planetside THE MMOFPS - Multi-experience starts above 64."
