Well I was wondering about what they would use as an expansion pack.
I don't like the idea of boats, though a small anphebius unit would be neat. There are warp gates, these gates are the basis of the technology and you can't do anything without them. This and instant travel between continents cuts out the need for boats. But what about bases under sea. You put a "continent" under sea, say you can't get off of it because of large choking seaweed that hasn't been cleared yet. (or whatever, something that makes it impossible to get off or far away from the "continent.") Maybe these continents are mining colonies or something. Say that the Warpgates connecting to the land continents just got reactivated. Now put bases, tarrain, cool wierd plants, "weather effects" sunken alien ships, ancient atlantis type cities, and add different vehicles and equipment. Now you might have a game that is a little more "tribes" (though that isn't what I am going for) because the heavy armor can't jump or swim that high, but the lighter ones could have a piece of equipment that allows you to float or swim (fly). The weapons could have different effects, and stats. You can have air in the bases, for regular combat, and physics. Have slow undersea crawlers, and light fast under sea subs to have the equivolent of tanks and aircraft. In other words. When/if PS gets really popular you can expand the game and possibilities by adding a few undersea "levels" for people tired of the same ol' combat with the same ol' physics. Plus a game that expands with it's popularity is good. How many expansions do all of those other MMOGs have? Just an expansion idea. And I like it better then boats and all that. Because if your ship sinks, you sink with it, or you get out of it... and sink. Because Ships will have very little to do with the bases you are trying to capture. Because I just don't see a reason for it in any way.

With this being called Under the Sea I need to post this, I think it solves this issue as well
The seaweed is always greener In somebody else's lake You dream about going up there But that is a big mistake Just look at the world around you Right here on the ocean floor Such beautiful things around you What more are you looking for Under the sea Under the sea Darling it's better Down where it's wetter Take it from me Up on the shore they work all day Out in the sun they slave away While we're devotin' Full time to floatin' Under the sea Down here all the fish is happy As off through the waves they roll The fish on the land ain't happy They sad 'cause they in the bowl But fish in the bowl is lucky They in for a worse of fate One day when the boss get hungry Guess who's gon' be on the plate Oh no! Under the sea Under the sea Nobody beat us Fry us and eat us In fricassee We what the land folks love to cook Under the sea we off the hook We got no troubles Life is the bubbles Under the sea Under the sea Since life is sweet here We got to be here Naturally Even the esturgeon and the ray They get the urge and start to play We got the spirit You got to hear it Under the sea The lewt play the flute The carp play the harp The plaice pay the bass And they soundin' sharp The bass play the brass The chub play the tub The fluke is the duke of soul The ray he can play The lings on the strings The trout rockin' out The blackfish she sings The smelt and the sprat You know where it's at And oh that blowfish blow Under the sea Under the sea When the sardine Begin the beguine It's music to me What do they got a lot of sand We got a hot crustacean band Each little clam here know how to jam here Under the sea Each little slug here cuttin' a rug here Under the sea Each little snail here know how to wail here That's why it's hotter under the water Yeah we in luck here Under the muck here Under the sea

Must...kill...Bighoss...
Anyways, underwater would take less rendering than land. The planet has no moons, right? So no tides. Make the ocean floor a little smoother than land, and basic particle effects for splash from ships. Make subs basicly air vehicles (but really sluggish) that can't go past the surface of the water. If they want (I wouldn't care), add wakes, and there you go. No bothering with trees or grass, less seperate rocks on ocean floor, less bases/towers (you know they would be widely spaced if they had them in water), etc. |

Gamer-senses tingling.... something about that 'as for APCs that cross lakes and rivers... there already is one '.... unless he's referring to the galaxy. my point is that a big flyinggunship isn't always available, IE you havent captured (or your enemies have) a dropship center. then you have no option but to go through easily defendable pinchpoints and bridges. meaning suicide.
