I'm going to agree with Crator. The point of using the real game as the tutorial is so that the player learns..... the real game. I'm not against other options, but this is how I saw things when I wrote the OP:
Either:
1) There is no tutorial and players will be immersed straight into the battles and have to figure everything out.
or
2) The players are still immersed straight into the battles, but they have missions which tell them how to do it, and guide them.
I'm sure other alternatives are feasible to. I prefer this since it allows a new player to get into the action right away AND learn the game at the same time. You're not cutting your teeth on something that is completely unlike the real thing. That reminds me of those PS1 Outfits that would run training missions all the time with no enemies around and then they'd suck when they hit contact with the enemy...
