Never much saw the point of VR training. Its a game with little or no death penalty. Go play.

I'm going to agree with Crator. The point of using the real game as the tutorial is so that the player learns..... the real game. I'm not against other options, but this is how I saw things when I wrote the OP:

Either:

1) There is no tutorial and players will be immersed straight into the battles and have to figure everything out.

or

2) The players are still immersed straight into the battles, but they have missions which tell them how to do it, and guide them.

I'm sure other alternatives are feasible to. I prefer this since it allows a new player to get into the action right away AND learn the game at the same time. You're not cutting your teeth on something that is completely unlike the real thing. That reminds me of those PS1 Outfits that would run training missions all the time with no enemies around and then they'd suck when they hit contact with the enemy...

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, perhaps. However if there aren't enough new people in that area it wouldn't help much.

You know how they've been talking about having hooks to social media and such? I think we can safely presume that there will be a Planetside 2 wiki. It would nice if SOE created an official one and made it so that you could access it from in the game. Not a tutorial per say but a really useful reference document that can probably answer most questions people will have.
