As for bunny hopping... So? You're fine with guys having usain bolt level sprinting abilities while wearing what looks like 100kg of armor and toting a rocket launcher, but god forbid they can jump? |

Isn't the unrealistic vertical clearance enough? Do we really have to be able to do it rapidly and repeatedly? By similar logic, we can already magically get rid of damage by using health packs, so what's the big problem with having regenerating health? I'ts all about striking a balance, for gameplay and immersion. There are plenty of games with countless variations of these systems. If anyone wants bunny hopping to be in Planetside 2, that's fine, but I don't want it. The devs don't seem to want it either. It just doesn't seem like it fits the style of the game. There's unrealistic, and then there's unrealistic. |

Couple things about bunny hopping.
One of the first things is it easier to shoot someone who is bunny hopping when you are not. That is due to the physics of z-axis travel and the ability of the shooter to determine where the player will land based on take off position and z-axis trajectory. Add into this equation the ability to use splash damage to utterly roflstomp any one who thinks they can bunny hop away from a quality shooter. Secondly, train yourself to shoot people and put rounds on the hit box by playing games like Tribes (Current version being Tribes - Ascend). If you can track people on the z-axis using skiing and jump jets in that faced paced shooter you can decimate a dummy bunny hopping in PS2. |

i hate seeing bunnyhoppers, too. just kills the atmosphere when a big army storms a building and everyone is hopping like a retarded duracell bunny.
would be ok if we all get bunny ears and do this as a easter event, but thats it. my idea to prevent hopping without stamina: we get ironsights, right? drop it while jumping. nobody could sustain his aim with a rifle anyway, while hopping around. let the weapon go down while jumping and remove the rectangle while airborne. this way stupid bunnyhoppers will get a disadvantage over grounded soldiers and will stop doing this very soon. maybe even increase the time to fire while jumping. on the ground you fire directly, but while in air delay the shot for half a second doesnt apply to jumpjet usage for they are designed to be able to jump and fight. i agree with the original poster, that there has to be something done about the issue. it´s not a comical game after all. |

How about Counter Strike style quick scoping? Bonus head shot damage has been confirmed, maybe we can just have one shot kills rule the PS2 battlefields. There are play styles that blend well together in certain games and then there are play styles that clash and make for a disjointed or imbalanced experience. Way to topple that straw man. Maybe next time you can build him on a pogo stick so that he can bunny hop too. |

Yeah, adding idiotically unrealistic physics to the game didn't do anything to make gameplay better.
Realistic physics. Maxes should not be thrown back against the wall when running into cloakers, vehicles should not be capable of being slewed around by single soldiers, jumping, like shifting left and right, should take a realistic wind-up time and not just be bad for aim, but throw your aim completely off, like at the ceiling or ground. To defend bunny-hopping and ADAD strafing is to defend hiding your lack of tactics and skill behind a wall of lag. While we're at it, crippling RExo soldiers by making it so they couldn't even jump a rail on a tower? Lame. Make it so they can pause, holster weapon, and climb over minor obstacles that they encounter, not be a crippled baby in a crib when faced with the insurmountable obstacle of a waist-high railing or tower roof. "Sorry, sir, the 1st Marine Division can't take this beach!" "Why, Marine?" "Well, there's a 39" high sand berm that we can't jump over, so we are all wallowing on the beach, crying and waiting for a soother." "Okay, terminate the operation. I guess Saddam wins the Gulf War." I know the Heavy Assault armor guys in PS2's suits have power. I'm not sure if it is power to augment movement, or power to power other stuff.
