As long as all the original continents return at some point, I don't care how many we start with.

Perhaps they will even bring back continent locks and sanctuaries when we get more.

I hope you realize that the game is barely Alpha. Mechanics are hard to iron out, adding the maps is easier. Right now it's about testing mechanics.

nonissue for me. They will add more conts in time, I rather have 10 quality conts in a 1 year period or however long it takes than 10 rushed/low quality ones

personally i never liked the caves, but it wasnt because they were caves
it was more because of the way they ware laid out, and i hated the transport system they had.
if they do decide to add them back in i think they would require a serious overhaul

3 Continents...well, that's a little disappointing. I was hoping to see as many of the same names/environments as in the first, but I trust in their judgement. If the game should only have 3 conts at launch, so be it.

it might also be that they want to see how the maps play out and how the gameplay forms around the map, so that if anything needs to be changed they only have to change 3 maps and take the info into account when making the other continents

but they said that they wanted all the old continents to make a return so i'm sure we will get them all eventually

You guys also have to put the Elder Scroll series into consideration. Simply so much work has to be put into the game to keep both scale and detail high. And compared to PS1's environments, PS2's locations/terrains look more diverse and much more 'handcrafted'.

(3 continents at lauch is pretty much confirmed at this point, and Higby/T-ray said in GDC that they have every intention to bring all PS1's continents eventually, in some forms or another. I'm pretty much certain that within 1 year after launch at least 1 continent will return)

I agree. But the fwer continents there are the les scope there will be for tactical play. I hope for more.

As an indication I saw Higby said that currently they have 1 completed continent with one more partly complete. Esimir is in a conceptual design phase.

NB this will also feed through to how many players can join each server and therefore that at launch multiple servers will be required per region.

NBB I think the current estimate is 2000 or so people per server, in one interview including Higby and TRay, TRay said they're trying to double that estimate --- from memory I think they said that.

Well if you remember in Planetside there were too many conts to fight in and spread the population too thin and most of them went unused with a few faves being fought on daily. The conts in Planetside were boring, repetitive and you didn't care for them other than being your home cont.

If the new ones are more detailed and it keeps the population together so we always have big battles then I'm all for it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with 3 continents. Just means we're going to have huge epic fighting, faster, much more often.

These are all good things. A population spread thinly is a population not engaging in the kind of massive epic battles that PS is about. I would much prefer 3 well made, well balanced, focused continents on driving the playerbase to contend with each other strongly and constantly as opposed to 7 that just spread everyone out and make the massive chaos of the capped 3 faction fights rarer.

More carnage faster is always a good thing.
