That dude mike clearly is trying good. He obviously understands how to build a community. But he got a long way ahead, and the poor guy will never see me on his site. Im already feeling uncomfortable under this TR leadership here on PSU, but getting myself under the NC? HELL no!

Morto stops............ has a look.......... thinks hmmmmmmm, I like that skin I think I might have it for Planetside TV!!!
But also I would love to the see the 2 communities get along, this can be a very tricky road to go down. And a good place to promote Planetside TV |

just checked the site.
they have a long way to go, but the more fansites, the better! but the thing i thought of at first already started... this site will suck up all the trolls we don´t want here. the site is only a few hours old, and already has troll-posts of the only person who managed to get on my ignorelist here ;-) so i don´t think that many veterans will go there. psu is the place for veterans for obvious reasons, and since we get invaded by new players from other games who often like to troll, i am happy that there now is a new place for them to go. depends on the ban-practice of the new site, though. don´t get me wrong, i like new players to come here and i like to answer all of their questions, but there are just too many stupid kiddys who rant on their first post, sometimes without any substance because they didn´t even read any info about the game that is available here on psu.

The problem with building a community site is that if there's already an established one you're wasting your time. All this guy is doing is potentially splitting the community without offering anything unique.
Psu is already established, when looking for community sites people want active communities. Without either faking his starting community by posting with sockpuppets he'll have a hell of a time seeing any growth. My advice to him is to do something new, though the options for new things are quickly thinning. Ps2 stats. PS TV. Inevitably psu will expand its already well established community into similar areas as well anyway. If you've got nothing new to add you won't attract people. If this site doesn't do something unique that's not offered elsewhere I predict it's disappearance. Tapatalk. |

I think that its good to have different communities that have different flavors. The PS2 fan base is not going to always have the same opinion/attitudes etc... towards the game or even each other. While it can be nice that PSU is full of vets, it also has a bit of an edge to it. I don't want to say its elitist, but it definitely feels like it trends there sometimes.

Then it gets bigger and needs more forums, more subsections. Then the whole community gets so big threads on the main page go to page 2 within a couple minutes. The folks running the site now have to consider how much population is too much. If they plan on expanding and building and investing more time/money into it, it can become a bigger community site like Mos Eisley Radio for TOR, Curse Gaming, MMO-Champion, etc. Some sites don't want to do that though, they like their existing group of long time/frequent posters and don't have a need to become larger. So other forums are great for an expanding community, because I honestly wouldn't want to see the entire playerbase posting here post launch lol. That's what SOE's official forums should be for I know we are all dedicated PSU fanboys but even PSU was a tiny noobsite at some point, I hope they do well Edit: Another good example of preferring multiple forums

I took a look.... saw the adverts and came back to PSU. Its cosy.
Personally i only need official forums, outfit forums and psu. Anything more is ps overkill for me. BUT, Planetside2 we hope will be huge so some good fansites will be great. |

Reserved my name, don't plan on visiting regularly yet.
The guy seems to have his finger in multiple pies. A general gaming forum, a minecraft youtube channel, a PS2 forum and who knows whatever else. Good luck to him, but as others have said, it needs a gimmick...Something to differentiate itself. |
