Even now (E3 Footage) looks better then any game that comes out on the market right now. |

lol of course I don't think they need to, I was just saying that I would rather they did that instead of trying to rush the game out (unfinished mind you) to meet deadlines. I can't say how many games have disappointed me because of the itchy feeling that they just pushed it out the doors. Not saying that PS2 will be that way or that the Devs and Beta aren't/won't be able to finish the job, but I'd rather wait for anything other than the best.

I think this needs a big fat BUMP...9/10 of the first page is covered in "I think this is a bad idea" crap.
I fully understand everyone's itching for Beta. But I have NEVER seen anticipation take such a negative/"I know better" form. Perhaps shift discussion to new tactics, strategies, gameplay styles, etc instead of "this is a stupid idea". ADAPT and OVERCOME! I feel the need to reiterate here - let's wait and see if removing AMSs was really the right thing to do or not. Let's wait and see how bad other people's customizations are, and how much it REALLY affects your gameplay, before attempting to get SOE to change their business plan or gameplay options around it. Come on people...we're smarter and better than this. Let's stop worrying so much about the petty things that may or may not affect gameplay until we can actually verify for ourselves how well it works. I truly miss that man. No other comics have quite been able to fill that cantankerous void. |

Beleive it or not, I actually think this forum has had a pretty good signal-to-noise ratio. The game has been in alpha and is now in beta. We are all aware that our statements are based on presupposition and interpreting what comes out of the devs and conferences. But that's what comments are going to be at this stage in this forum.
So many other games, at this stage, have had their forums filled with real negative comments with all the "proof" of how the game was going to fail. I'm still shocked at the interaction between the devs and this community. It's probably because I've been away from the MMO scene for a while. It's a totally different beast than dev/player relations some years back. Even those posts with which I disagree have their arguments laid out fairly logically (though I might disagree with their premises). If this game succeeds, it's not only the financing model that changes, but their development model. I wouldn't worry about whining or disagreements with expected game mechanics; these commenters actually care for the game. Look at how few "this game will suck" trolls are found here. Where are the "I'm not going to waste my time with this game when I can be playing game xyz" posts? Maybe it's partly because F2P has a bit of immunity because no money is required up front. Maybe no other game is YET seen as competing with PS2. Maybe it's the inclusion of a dedicated player base from the onset of development. Whatever it is, this game is different. Yeah I check the PSU forum maybe 4-8 times a day and the reddit probably once every couple days. (because I'm an addict).
Honestly tho a lot of those topics give people better ways to think about whatever issue is up to discussion if nothing else. Like the Spotting thread for example. Even if it did nothing else it created lots of people that would probably never have thought about the subject that are now better capable of identifying how spotting mechanics work in PS2 thus as a consequence those people are better able to define problems with the system. But yeah I agree that threads like that are still the exception rather then the rule. Even here. :/ Last edited by Kran De Loy; 2012-07-01 at 02:29 PM. |
