To put a lie to your statement, I did them all the time and so did many others.

The game is fine, the elements of PS1 will never dissipate, teamplay is about how much you want to actually do it.

So what if there are extra parts to it all? (custimisation/guns/sidegrades)

SOE has to make money somehow, or else both games could disappear.

Im sure more objective based things like moving objects, charging things and defending special vehicle, personally I those big guns in some of the big bases look interesting...perhaps there could be a charge up time after you cap it to be able to fire them?

Within the capacity of the designed code to give us situations where team-play is advantageous?

If there's few actual things to do that either require, or are better suited to be undertaken by a team (and countered by one) then no amount of imaging teamplay in game will make it suddenly up and appear.

Pong is not a game that requires a great deal of tictacs or strategic thought because....well....it's pong.

Currently all we do is cap bases in three, dull, stale, never-ending three way fights. We just play musical chairs with bases all day long. For a game that is a sequel, it's not that unreasonable to believe that it should not only have the elements that taxed us a team beyond twitch skills that its namesake had, but that it should have more of them?

The only people who might disagree with that are SOE's accountants, unfortunately. The days of games being made by gamers, for gamers, with mininal financial input are long gone. The things you aspire to having in the game would elevate it beyond the mundaneness of its current implementation, but if Smed and co don't smell the dollar return it may not happen. At least, that's my worry. Smed being an Eve fan may be our saving grace though!

As much as I can appreciate the passion in all these posts that want this game to be more Planetside 1.5, it's also getting very repetitive tbh. Things like Ant runs, more meta game, additional objectives have been discussed at the forums over and over and over and over, it's like listening to a grey record with the needle skipping. Devs have said many times they will bring more secondary objectives and meta game over time. We heard you, the devs heard you, so why keep repeating/ copy pasting(!) the same issues over and over again?

No offense to you guys and as I said, I have lot of respect for all the passion some of these vets have but frankly, I can't wait for launch and see these forums flooded with new player opinions that judge this game on its own merits.

Point taken. I think we're just finding ways to fill in the time to launch? I'm enjoying the game as it stands. I was helping defend the Crown on US West at the end of beta, and it was simply amazing. Can't wait to get downloading tomorrow!

But in the meantime, we're not harming anyone with our daydreams of a more involved game?

Because that appears to be, in part, how things happen?

I recall a pod-cast thing where Kevmo said (possible slight paraphase) "As to the AMS thing, we're still planning to go with Galaxies as our primary mobile spawn point."

A scant week or two later, and many additional threads to the ones that had already been made, we were told we'd be testing the Sunderer variant.

Being pig-headed, repetitive and vocal seems to be just as important as to the nature of the content of posts and/or how well reasoned they are. Don't know about anyone else but I don't want Ps2 to remain just a dumb old shooter with more scale, where the focus is on bland unlocks. No amount of chastising will ever stop me banging that drum.

One thing I do take into account in posts like these is the degree of pig-headedness and "I know better than you" that went on and goes on in the crewed MBT threads. I really want no part in similar discussions outside of that topic (although I fight my "solo MBTs are a good option" angle quite firmly), so that's why I'm quite clear that my ideas should do not "get in the way" of someone who is not interested in things we might believe add more depth to the game.

Well, i don't know about others, but i like to have some activity that i can pursue without having to deal with enemy soldiers directly all the time (Basically, light one up and do some non-shooting stuff).

PS1 offered me:
- ANT Runs
- Fortifying bases
- Deploying an AMS and keeping an' eye on it

PS2 offers me:
- Deploying an AMS and keeping an' eye on it
- "Spotting"

In conclusion, there is not really much to do in Planetside 2 aside from pumping lead into someones face and/or blowing some objective up.

Something else I enjoyed in PS2 before they over-nerfed turrets was to sit in an AV turret in an often-contested base (Crossroads was great for this) and kill enemies trying to sneak in for a ninja cap. Proximity chat was great fun to use for coordinating defenders onto the attackers, because, especially at Crossroads you can see the 2 external cap points from 2 of the turrets, so you could give instructions on how to approach the cap point. Sort of like a base-commander feeling.

It's a pity turrets got nerfed so hard, because that could be a fun way to spend an hour.
