I'll be blunt: Sony needs lessons in empathy.

They have difficulties seeing things from different perspectives, especially in regards to simplicity, functionality and balance, although there may be a method to their madness when it comes to balance, even though I may not agree with them in that regard.

Reactive as in, we see what the fans like and we make changes accordingly..yes, thats us. You presume that we know exactly what the people want at all times. Sadly, this is not the case. We do our best, and will continue, to interact with the community to find out the best course of action for our game. Do you really want us to be mass scale? Do you think DICE actually cares what you think? What about EA? All signs point to no. SOE cares what the players think, we want you to have a great time playing our games. I'm really sorry you don't believe in our potential and I wish you the best in finding a company that you can interact with directly like you can with SOE. Every opinion counts, including yours.

Can you state what you are talking about exactly OpolE? Seems to just be a statement.

It's to do with the Lack of listening to Planetside vet's, lets rephrase that, they listened a lot but didn't really make the game to much like Planetside. It wasn't advertised hugely apart from the US and Germany and maybe China. Lack of support and living up to promises. It is only week 2
They also didn't share their entire vision/plan with the beta players. And I say beta players because they aren't just listening to vets input here. It's important, but not the end-all-be-all. The game isn't complete. They always said they have years worth of plans for the game. If it gets really popular those plans might even be extended longer.

Have yet to see a non-indie developer that is as transparent and as communicative as SOE was throughout beta and at the moment.

Can you give me/us an example of more open (big) developer than SOE?

Give them credit, they try, but there are certain things they are dead stubborn on, and maybe they know something we don't?

For all its flaws, it's still a great game. The one issue I have is that I think they were too enamoured with certain things and overlooked user interface and simplicity; the burden of entry is still extremely high, which can be a turn off.

The fluff is nice, but it only works if people can play enough to care about it.

Oh, there's a word that describes this, what is it...oh, intuition.

Even now, the descriptions of weapons and abilities are still bland and difficult to wade through. Base capture mechanics isn't intuitive at all, and for a new player, good luck with that. Generators? How many times have you seen someone shoot rockets at it? New person who at least tries, again not intuitive. Don't see many people doing this anymore because they may not get this far to even care.

What may make sense to us, has to be gibberish to new people.

How about you use your big boy train of thought and formulate something worth reading about and stop wasting everyone's time with this childish bullshit.

I may as well place a bet. Like people told me they will introduce something into the game like Star wars and lose 2/3's of the player base. I liked BFR's and caves but apparently 2/3's also left with that. I head its happened somewhere in the EQ series so you know whats coming

And btw, just because I said stop believing in SOE and their games doesn't mean I'm excluding myself from playing Planetside. It was just a statement. Planetside 1 means a lot to me.

Whether I was in a tech plant, amp station or a dropship centre, I really enjoyed that 15 minutes to tab out and have a wank.

Even with an LLU is was like a naughty danger wank. I had to finish before the team had the LLU dropped into the other CC.

If I could hear the base being attacked I made it my mission to clear up the place and I'm not talking about in game.

I miss those days of 10-20 base hacks per day. Good quality masterbation is forever lost.

RIP 15 minute hacks

Planetside 2 right now in my humble opinion is still a beta product. As such i'm going to treat it like one. Everytime it pisses me off (low fps / Hackers / Griefers / Bugs / TR op weapons) I walk away from it for a few days and enjoy life.

Planetside for me is simply the best PC game... ever. I was max level by the end of Christmas 2003 and played that same toon for 9+ years. The strategies and the ability to specialise is what drove that game with the community keeping it together. Bring back forumside not this overmoderated crap we have now. Nothing has ever matched it for scale and gameplay (not even planetside2, render distance....suxs) Some 2x 9 year subbed accounts later i thought SOE had, had all the money they were going to get out of me. But i bought alpha squad and some 20k of station cash and a 6month sub upfront because i wanted to demonstrate my commitment to SOE's effort in making Planetside2 which is a good game (not award winning imo, but there is no denying that its good) what i cannot justify how ever is blowing £1000 on a PC overhaul just to get moderate fps when my current rig runs all over titles very very well on high level details (I'm 30 now and unlike my 21 year old self i cannot waste money willy nilly). Planetside required a top notch rig in 2003 but then so did every new game as hardware was always struggling to keep up now the reverse is true. With all this said though you can see how little of the available pc resources Planetside 2 actually uses and this makes me absolutely sure that some suit somewhere has said "right, i don't care if its ready release it now"

~Planetside2 Art: the game looks great from the smallest rock to the largest base it's all stunning (until you have to nuke everything in order to scrape by at 23fps) T-ray and his team have made some stunning stuff.

~Weapons: Meh is all i can say. Balance is out of whack the key in empire differences is suppose to be subtlety when i play tr its like i've turned some sort of hacks on. The HA signature weapons are a huge disappointment (unless you are TR of course).

~ Classes: too rigid and the light assault class breaks all possibility of strategic game play unless you have a outfit with 100+ people at which point you are just a zerg anyway.

~ Grief System: seriously how hard is a counter.

~ Hacking/Griefers/GM's/CSR's People despite being reported nd ticketed and still Hacking and griefing days later.

~Devs and CEO interaction throughout the past year have been for me off chart i've never seen anything like it. Is it a good thing? hmmm not 100% no. Too much listening and acting can ruin the development as they try to please all.

~Free2play, SOE have nailed it in my opinion. Its near perfect, my major gripe would be releasing a bundle 2 days after release that incorporated lots of essential first day purchases that lots of people had already bought that stung a bit.

~Driver + gunner and class use restrictions. I think this is the issue with the game and this is my biggest gripe. The game will never work to its full potential while ever everyone can do everything at all times. Instant gratification is bad.

Anyway i'm rabbling and maybe it's all just me and things have moved on and its all been made for the cod/bf3/mylittlepony kiddies who knows.

Re: SOE have always been reactive not proactive.

I dunno SOE have always innovated traditionally in the past, however the game management has always failed. I don't understand why to this day SOE hasn't made a success of any of their MMOs, they just run them into the ground and never seem to roll back when they're wrong.

I mean why didn't BFRs get taken out of live and fixed on test? Why did they get pushed to live in a broken state in the first place? I don't understand why SOE continued with them when they were broken and it took so long for them to get nerfed to useless that everyone quit the game.

Why did Core Combat get released at all? The thing came out like 3 months after launch was it? It had little to no testing, it was bad and it added more land mass to the game when it didn't need it. What would have been great is to make capital bases like cities like you were talking about on existing conts.... what happened to that?

What happened to the HA weapons in this game? You took iconic HA weapons from Planetside and ruined them, in fact what happened to the weapons? Shotguns look like rifles, they all look the same in fact and really boring to use. The weapons give me no excitement in unlocking them. I just want some guns with character, rather than generic rifle number 20 that is no different from every other gun in the game.

Give me the underslung MCG, give me a Lasher with proper orbs, give me flamethrowers, give me a proper beefy Jack Hammer which actually makes a sound and doesn't sound like a standard gun.

Right now I use one gun per class, I don't switch... there is no point when they're all the same but one is clearly better than the others.

I just don't have any confidence in SOE doing any of this or making their game from mildly fun to amazing. What I see happening is what they do with all their games, rush out content, milk the cash shops, break the game trying to balance it, add some stupid nail in the coffin that makes everyone leave but they refuse to roll back.

For EverQuest it was PoP for me.
For EverQuest 2 it was dumbing down the grouped content and turning it into a solo WoW clone.
For Planetside it was BFRs and Core Combat.
For SWG it was a whole load of things but mainly The CU and NGE.
For DCUO it was the lack of anything to do, even now, they've just left the game to die.

For Planetside 2 it'll probably just be how a whole lot of things nag me...

- I hate the base designs.
- I hate the base capture system, it's basically camp spawns.
- I hate how you cannot play when it isn't peak time.
- I hate how there are so many servers with people spread over 3 conts and there is no automated system to merge and shut off conts to keep the population together.
- I hate Indar, it's poorly designed and just focuses the NC and Vanu to attack the TR
- I hate the weapons
- I hate how lightnings are useless thanx to MBT becoming the new solo tank
- I hate how long it takes to gain certs, I've played 32 hours since release and only have 1100 certs, enough to unlock one weapon and it isn't even account based.
- I hate quick knives
- I hate the new MCG, in fact all the new HA weapons
- I hate how players don't render properly
- I hate how hard it is to work out wtf is going on with the map, like why can't it show where the majority of my forces are clearly? Why can't it show where I am quickly?
- I hate how you cannot fly through the middle of the warp gate

I hate a whole loads of things, I find myself having fun, but then I find more and more shit annoying me and one of these days I'll just quit. None of my friends are playing thanx to the horrible launch, they all got fed up of the lag and servers going down all the time. The thing is to the normal user like them, you'll never get them back, they're done with the game now and aren't interested any more. That was SOE rushing their game to launch just like they've done with all their MMOs.
