Reading this post makes me sad. Reason is that people like you.. well thats hars. You think that a FREE game needs to do stuff for you all the time. Planetside is great game with great content and graphics. Gameplay is done pretty good compared to other FPS that have been released.
Bugs are good to be fixed. Means developers are following community, but nothing is made fast. It is easy to say "why not this and that", but if they do everything fast and quick the result will be also fast and quick if you know what I mean. New content. I do not thing this game needs to have any. This is FPS. People are playing Mohaa, ET, QL and many other FPS games that are very good in competitions. They play same maps, same weapons and classes and every single match that they have is a blast. Because of the game and because of the challange that other players bring. There are less and less players? Well it is true and it is totally normal. When game comes out there are many people trying it out and after they notice that it is not what they want they quit it. People who stay are those who like to play here and there and then there are this gamers who really love the game and enjoy having same experience everytime. The rush of adrenaline when getting head to head against an outfit or clan that is very strong or creating new tactics with team and executing them. Winning the battles that are very hard to win. Having a game like this is pretty damm awesome so give creators some credit |

What I really miss now, - is a reason to fight. Every time I logged in, I look at the Crown, then look at the other continents population, and, facepalm for a like 10 minutes.
I really hate a Zerg rush facilities tactics, no one is want to defend, there is no reason to defend, otherwise, you really want other faction to take it, and then Zerg Rush it, only, if this facility is not acquire you a main tank of your faction. Resource system is really meaningfull, I dont even remember when I am out of ress or something. I see a "lock on" continent feature at the future, but, if it implemented in THIS system, I think, only playable continenct will be Indar and boring "shoot at any direction and you hit a enemy anyway" Crown. because other continents would be zerg rushed at night\low population, cause I dont know how many players know, that there is other continent's available for play. And you do get 2 new continents this year (Hossin in a couple of months, Searhus in the (late) Summer if I read correctly). Read the road map and dev comments again.
At least they ARE communicating, if you can't notice that then I don't think you're really interested in the game. This isn't the SOE of old, far from it imo. If you have to lay some blame on SOE then it is that the communication isn't always coherent and often creates weird expectations (Smedley posting the carrier picture without any further explanation did more wrong than good imo, name-calling hackers isn't a smart thing either when those problem still persist till this very day). On the other hand, if everything had to go through PR first we wouldn't have heard 80% of what we are hearing now and I like what I am hearing. I am LOT more interested in PS2 than I have ever been in PS1 because of that communication. For the most part they do listen to the community (the last patch did wonders imo, much better balanced ground battles), it's only hard for folks to give them a compliment and a thumbs-up on a job well done, that's probably what the internet does with everyone... I only play FPS games and fifa and i beg to differ with the above statement
Farming certs is winning to me. This game as it is now is all about the farm as you can't do much without 40 guys rolling together. It's not a bad thing mind, i enjoy playing the game and look forward to more conts when the smaller teams can make an impact. |

WoW, GW2, EVE etc, come to mind as games you should compare PS2 to, in terms of updating. I certainly don't think PS2 is doing that bad, but I'm sure we all just want more and more stuff in the game as fast as possible because we love it so much |

do we have a lot of weapons? i dont think so! tbh what do we have?
per faction: 1 pistol 1 carbine 1 smg 1 lmg 1 sniper 1 assault rifle that looks like whatever else 1 shotgun that looks like the battle rifle 1 battlerifle that looks like the lmg 1 special heavy weapon 2 missile launchers? the rest are just copies.. and the different stuff we have at least for TR each look like some resized copy as well.. so basically we have 1 pistol, 1 rifle, 2 launchers!? (not even sure on that, dont play heavy often), 1 special weapon and tbh battle rifle, shotgun and sniper look all the same too.. in bf or cod every weapon does look and feel very different.. while i if you put one of the shitloads of carbines in a developers hand i am sure he cant say if it is a trac5s, amc or a normal one.. i regret a lot having spend sc on weapons hoping that at least the attachmenets would make them different.. but they dont really.. the weapons in this game really disappoint me a lot.. just because the factions have their designs and weapons have to fit in the style a small bit doesnt mean we need exactly the same look for everything (and feel, they also all feel the same) and sorry, didnt read the rest of the thread, just this post annoyed the hell out of me so i had to reply.. Sometimes I wonder about people, it's like they look at the weapon appearance and they can't work out how a weapon could feel or act different if it doesn't look different. Because they do. It might seem insignificant to you, but some of us do notice that there's a difference between weapons and pick accordingly. |

That is true, and I do hope they tweak the appearance of stuff more as time goes on as well. It just annoys me when people say that all the weapons are the same when clearly that's the opposite of my experience, unless I totally imagined all the time i've spent trialing weapons, looking up stats and rejecting weapons to find weapons to fit my playstyle and what I want to do with them.

You should know people currently aren't that up to date, when it comes to the new vehicles which are coming soon. This is not because I want to be the perfect fanboy, but I want to say, you guys are doing pretty good currently. Thing is, like in the most F2P, people have no patience. Don't take it emotional, you guys are doing a great job. To OP: First priority is currently the stabilization and playability of the game. Since the release of the game was a good step (there are goals given by SOE which have to be fulfilled), please remember that this game is the second part of the very first and real MMOFPS. Basically non-instanced. While they're increasing the playability of the game, they're on a parallel way also including new content. T-Ray has posted already stuff which probably will come. They cannot show everything, since the surprise / new feel / entertainment factor will be done too early. As T-Ray has told, you're missing a lot of vehicles, but don't name which kind of vehicles you're currently missing. To be constructive, I'll recommend you to list what you're looking for. Same stuff for weapons. But while you're going to list them, remember at every time the balancing. On the same way you're currently contradicting yourself, by yelling that you want more content, you also say "I don't know if all developer power has moved away from Planetside to work on Everquest 3 or whatever, but at least get some of the major issues fixed before you pull the plug on the game". They're working on it currently. And like every (real) MMO, there is a constant evolution and development required. And by the way, there were NEVER exactly promises about player-made bases or sea combat. That's just something you want to put in here, to generate some kind of pressure. And vehicles are coming. And about the cheaters. Cheaters are in every game. There is no universal way to sort that out. It's simply not possible. Tell me one MMO bound to a learning curve, which is cheat free - and I'll be fine to award you an GTX 680 from my wholesale distributor Devil AG. To be honest, chill out. Anyways, looking at the big mass of players coming together at the same spot / activity area, cheaters basically are getting owned, since there is no godmode. Those no-clippers which are in objects, shooting out from them are one thing and quite obvious. Just report them and they'll get owned soon or later. Same for aimbotters. And at least, people cheating on a smart way, like I've already said, will go under in the masses. That's why I like Planetside 2. Also, you've everytime to remember, that you've to track a cheat on his way of how it works. It's not done simply by seeing a YouTube-Video. You've to understand the way it works and to find out how it gets in touch with the game. That for, a lot of players which are actually cheating and investing money into the game, are getting tracked. That's a pretty normal way, which also happens in other MMOs. Give them a chance. Give the game a chance. Just lean back and make the best out of it. Be constructive, share ideas (describe them well in a realizable way) and wait. T-Ray and Co. are often taking a look into the forums and reddit. Most other companies don't even do that. They've a strict way to develop a game and fundamentally don't pay attention to what the customerbase asks for. So, chill out, seriously. |
