Nothing was better than having your merits in your shoulder. It provided so much more reason to play the game and to play it differently. I spent weeks earning merits, trying to do nothing but kill tanks, or nothing but pull AMS etc.
So fun, an obvious good idea.

I helped an old granny VS across the road earlier do I get a merit badge?.... okay so I didn't exactly help her, then again as I recall now it wasn't a granny VS but a squad of NC corporate bully boys and actually I didn't help them cross the road... I kinda ran them over in my Prowler, still think that should earn my "tried to be good and failed" merit badge right?

This may be true, but it would still be nice to have on your armour. Hell, even if they only put it on the player database armour. E.G.: On the player database, show your most played class with the most played weapon with that class, but with stock everything else, and have the ribbons show up on it (yes, they're called ribbons, look it up). Or, if anything, have the player in it's faction-specific dress uniform (military people will know what I'm talking about) so that way, we get to see the medals & ribbons AND the player's face since we only see it at the character creation screen.
