I'm expecting some pretty "creative" phoenix tactics:
#1 Scout phoenix. Got a quick look at enemy positions, then plow into something. Or just park yourself inside a base near a terminal and a window... Keep a phoenix in the air at all times as a poor man's Mosquito. #2 Multi-strike: Fire AWAY from the target, get lined up (target had better be stationary), then let it go dumb-fire. Fire the next one at the target, get lined up, go dumb-fire. Properly timed, both missiles should strike at the same time. It may be possible to do this with 3 or more missiles, provided you've got an INV terminal handy, or a vehicle's trunk. A large number of coordinated phoenixes will be pretty darn impressive. |

Yeah, no beta news yet.
Anyway, my guess is the pheonix will probably have quite poor handling to account for its long range. I.e. you may have to fly it 300m to do a U-turn. Rather than actually making the pheonix something where you hide somewhere and fire, you just use it to fine-tune your aiming. At least that's how I'd design it. Oh yes, I'd like to add I'm going to be a pheonix/devestator/general heavy weaponary specialist. |
