I disagree that it would be too much data to push from the server..., after all, a dead guy all you need to do is send the packet of instant of death (assuming ragdoll only happens on death), and body position and momentum vector, and the rest would be handled by client. Some may see it a little different than others, but they could get an update from server of final resting position after death is acknowledged by victim.

I think it would be funny to watch, but I think it would be a challenge if there are vehicles involved. I.E. One client PC could see body bouncing off several vehicles, while another may not see occur at all.

There is absolutely no way this should even be considered to be on the roadmap until they address much more pressing issues. We do not need more useless eye candy. This game needs more substance and less fluff as it is.

It disappeared off the roadmap some time back with no real explanation. To me I don't really care if it's there or not.

I was actually surprised it was on there in the first place. It's drastically increasing server load by having to track moving ragolls. It's just not worth it when we have plenty of server stability issues as it is.

i agree, but this game needs all of the performance, bug fixes, and game-stuff fixes first before they throw in something like this. they need to be comfortable with the engine first, ironing out the bugs, tweaking this and that etc, then they should put it in.

it is more of a "want" than a "need" as of right now, and we "need" a lot more of the stuff mentioned above first. then we can start on the latter. in like, a few years time at the most.

One thing missing is that when you drop C4 on a bunch of snipers huddled together on a cliffside, they fall dead exactly where they were, which makes it too easy for medics to just revive. No chance of the body falling off.

Putting ragdoll into PS2 is a lot more complicated than the obvious issues. The entire physics ruleset would need an overhaul, which also means every vehicle would have to be rebalanced to work.

As someone else said, E/E Animations are more important to quality gameplay. But I'd like to see my Titan AP hits throwing TR and VS backwards a klick or two.

I wouldn't mind seeing a substitue being, bodies being thrown around by exposions in counterstrike 1.6. The base animations played but the hitbox was thrown around from the explosion. It looked goofy (people laying down in mid air flying) but it served its purpose and i've always been kind of fond of how cheesy it was.

keep it how it is.
That all depends on the violence of the ragdoll effect though.

And if it works post-mortem.

Well vehicle's remains use a physics system and are seen by everyone so they do have some of this in game, but these remains don't even work well all the time either. I notice aircraft hulls stuck in there air every once in a while or I see them teleport across the sky.

If they have problems with a bit of destruction here and there, I can't imagine how the server would handle 100+ bodies rolling around in a biolab or any other fight.

Issues with servers, lag, desync etc... adding ragdoll now would just send it over the edge. Maybe down the track.

Ah, ragdoll physics makes me think back to gta4 were u would nail a curb to have your body fly through the.windshield off the hood of your car. Fallouts were fun to when blowing off limbs in slo mo and watch as there heads scrape off the ground. I would love to see this in PS2. Yes it would make some aspects of the game more of challenge but I think the spectacle would out weigh the negatives.

I'd like to see some ragdoll physics added to the game but I'm with the camp that if it causes stress on the servers it shouldn't be added, poor hamster work hard enough as is
If they can do it without to much hassle then why not.

Personally I think it should be limited in effect (short range drops from explosions, angle of hit impacting way of falling and falling over debris resulting in a different pose), but it would add to the emersion so if it's indeed not that resource heavy...
