PS1 despite being more sophisticated than many games today is dead. I never thought I would say this, but we must move on and hope a dev captures that same vibe PS1 had from the get go. PS2 is a joke and is less immersive than 1mm of water. Arma 3 is looking promising despite the crappy launch, will never have that PS vibe that many of us remember. Pacing , scope and combat was executed in a buggy but well meaning manner in PS1. Whatever ,made you rage about it you still came back, because nothing will scratch that itch, not unless some copy cat dev gets that epic play style nailed down.
I think PS1 would do well on Steam actually. PS2 runs like crap for many people. PS1 runs like a dream. |

As others have said, I'm pretty sure it's time for everyone to accept that PS1 is dead and isn't coming back. Heck, the game doesn't even have a web site anymore. I think the FTP period runs out next month, and after that, I would wager money that they will finally pull the plug once and for all.
Your best best is really to push SOE to incorporate more PS1-like features into PS2. |

They said toward the end of year to early next year they would put the game up for free on Steam. If it goes on Steam it will get like 10,000 subscribers possibly more. There are games from 80's on there, many sequels like Half Life 1 and Half Life 2 together from the early 2000's and mid 2000's. The game will go on Steam soon, I just am looking for people to get on twitter and email to remind them. The game will get so many people to play it and it costs them little to no money because of the 2003 technology the have said. |

In my opinion, the best thing they could do in this particular case is release it free, and allow the steam workshop to distribute mods and skins and maps and such.
Charging money when there is a free second version out there-- sorry, it just won't work. |

Any word on the progress? I REALLY want to play PS1! I keep seeing all these videos and quite frankly, I would MUCH rather play PS1 right now than PS2, especially if they kept the actual Vanu vehicles and weapons, e.g.: the Flail.

Please if you really want PS1 on Steam free, keep talking to them, tweeting them, and emailing them, don't just wait around, ask some body! |
