Re: Liberator Pass Incoming

If it was up to me the Lib would be changed into a bomber
the problem is that this is a multiplayer game and no one but noobs who don't know better would fly a bomber in this game. basically all you would do is fly into large conflicts you can't survive, and get raped before getting any reward. that is, if you didn't get killed by 3 or 4 of these "air superiority fighters" that are actually only fighting over the free XP offered by bombers with no defenses.

you could give this bomber style plane all the same type of AA guns that a galaxy has, but that's already enough of a joke as it is. if you make them too potent, they will just be mobile AA fortresses, too weak and they are XP pinatas.

again i have to say that the air-meta in planetside 2 is unique and fun. trying to turn it into War Thunder will just ruin what is sci-fi arcade shooter awesome about it.

what is especially fun about the Lib is that it isn't a lame ass fixed wing bomber. it's a VTOL Heavy Weapons Platform. and that's why people play it. if it isn't good, people won't play it. like how harasser went from hero to zero. now that it's "fixed" and infantry don't cry about it, it sucks and only noobs use it.

What about utility options in the place of the primary gunner?

Supply Drops, including deployable vehicle repair and rearm crates.

Turret Drops, the full gambet of availble turrets.

Sky Crane, tether for carrying vehicles. This one could potentially be used as a weapon as well!

My idea for improving the Liberator is to allow MBT guns to aim higher.

Whatever they do to the lib I just hope they take player skill into account. As libs are now there are plenty of pilots who can go on ungodly killstreaks with them. Buff them too much and you're only going to see them nerfed to shit a few months later.

Just had a nightmare of rumble seat enabled liberators flying around shooting ESF's with its dalton cannon, ....both occupants in the rumble seats were TR Heavy Assaults with Strikers ....

*cries*

Indeed. That's not even considering the nightmare of engy's repairing the lib in mid-flight ala the harasser.

The only way to make rumbleats not insane is to prevent everyone in them from using any items; no guns, no equipment. Perhaps the Lib itself can have some guns built into the side-doors for a couple people to use, but everyone else in the seats will have to be restricted purely to looking around.

I won't be satisfied with a liberator and rumble seats if you can't shoot HA weapons and the like while flying. Why are you afraid of powerful and fun things?
And that's with the notion of removing the main gun for the rumble seats.

A single HE shell to the side, a spray of rockets, sniper rifle would take them out so easily...

Why are people afraid of the suggestion for Vanu Liberators to shoot thin purple deathbeams that one-shot any infantry it hits while blaring dubstep with every pull of the trigger? Talk about awesome.

My ideas. Mind you, this is more so overall than it is for ES.

-A Lib that can carry 2-4 infantry to an area and offload or to even add their firepower to the Libs offensive capabilities. Want to add a max? Have that max take up 2 slots instead of 1 like infantry.

-Make either the Lib or a Gal able to carry one MBT into battle. The MBT can't fire nor can be used as a bomb or kamikaze like. Maybe even disable the Lib/Gal's ability to fire any weapons while carrying the tank. Imagine a drop ship that can unload a single MBT and a small squad of infantry and being able to support them both from the air. Personally, I see the Gal performing this more so than a Lib but just a suggestion.

-Strafing runs similiar to what an A10 Warthog does. Perhaps bombing runs akin to carpet bombing, napalm, rocket pods, or simple bullet strafing.

-Definitely share XP for everyone inside the Lib when they score a kill or an assist.

-Ammo Lib similar to what an ammo sundy does except for aircraft. Likewise, repair Lib as well.

-Me being a Lib pilot, I find that survivability is important. Too often do i find that one sky guard can completely ruin my day. Flak resistance increase perhaps? Maybe asking too much but it doesn't hurt to ask.

If it played out like the ESF patch you dont have to worry about anything, just some new weapons that nobody will use and hopefully they change the XP distribution.

The lib as is can't carry a MAX unit, I don't think it would carry a MAX unit even with Rumble Seat... I see it as the same difference between a Flash and a Harassers ability to carry a MAX in the rumble seat.

Heavies out the side though.... that would be awesome, not only the fear of Lock-Ons out the side doors but the chance to shoot those same heavies off there rumble seats! So awesome!

I don't think it would be OP either because the heavies are still limited on ammo, they can't resupply in the air and presumably the rumble seat would remove the belly gun so you don't have the same frustration that you had with the old Harasser - Repairing on the move with a crazy powerful weapon.

Make it happen SOE!

I love the idea of adding rumble seats for troops. However, I think the Lib would need a MASSIVE boost in speed and mobility for it to be able to fulfill that role. I also hope they go with an open troop bay, instead of just sticking seats on the side.

What if the troop transport version could put a defense shield in the defense slot. The shield wouldn't allow firing out, but it would protect the troops. Trade offs ftw.

ALSO: The transport version of the Lib, if there is to be one, needs to be able to pick up troops without landing, sort of an ability to give it an 'up elevator' of sorts when flying slow enough.

Like a skyhook?

Eg 4 dangling "cables" that whisk the rumblers up would be awesome for fast pickups.
