PlanetSide Dev
|
Planetside is how a spacegoing culture describes living on or travelling to the surface of a planet. ("He lives planetside" or "She's headed planetside.") That's pretty much where the name came from.
That, plus Marketing thinks its easy-to-say and sellable. But seriously...the sci-fi reason is what started it. It's interesting to me how many different impressions you all got on that one word. I read WAY too much sci-fi and didn't even think of the other explanations you gave. I *never* would have thought of Hamma's "Stateside" interpretation. That being said, however...all the explanations are correct, as far as I'm concerned. It is, after all, just a name. If names mattered, no one would have ever bought "Doom". I mean...what the heck? How does that relate to the game content? |
