When you drop a bomb, does it fly straight down from where you released it or does it keep its momentum and fly foward when dropped?

Oh man - it looks mean (and I do believe I must try it out)!

But only doing 90, and no afterburner? Seems a bit... odd, doesn't it? I mean, even the flying cow - the Galaxy - gets an afterburner. What's up with that?

How does it handle in a dogfight? Sluggish or just below the handling of a Reaver?

[Edit:] Oh yeah - how many cert points does it take?

Ok, someone mentioned a circle for the bombing pickle (pilot talk for a sight) So do yo position the cross hairs over a target and drop the bombs or do you position them over the target and as you get closer the crosshair stays on your target with the circle getting smaller as you go along. When the circle reaches your desired spread (or closes all the way to the cross hairs) then its telling you to drop the bombs?

PS 3 cert points. And it looks much more like someone took a Gal choped off the tail shrunk the remaining front and stuck a reaver tail on. I like it

hmmmmm ... I dunno how I used the bombsite but I got a few on target, what I saw was when you were aiming directly down from the bomber, the circle (which I assume is the spread of the bombs) was huge, however aiming forward in advance of the bomber the circle tightened so it was very small, I launched a few like this and the momentum of the plane meant they went with a fair bit of speed and was able to hit the top/side of objects, whereas the staright down approach I assume is for saturating an area with bombs?

1: to the person who said that guns should be on wings, one of the bombers used in WW2 had a small compartment in the back under the tail with a high calibre machine gun that could not fire up, only down, exactly like the liberator, its taken directly from the bombers

2: im gonna test slow circle strafing bomb runs over bases from different hights to see if u can courtyard clear efficiently and quickly

I can see this as kinda a "softener" weapon. Fly over a base, drop your ordnance, and let the grunts do the rest. Using it in a full-scale battle means more grief than you can shake a stick at. I'm also imagining a huge flight of bombers, WWII style. Man, if that happens I'm pretty sure Miir is gonna turn it into a movie somehow...

From my experience with the Liberator, I don't see this as much of an "ownage" weapon. In its environment, it will be awesomely effective. In the hands of a "casual" pilot, it will be pretty useless.

Pilot will be the key. The bombardiers cannot aim to the left or right, meaning it is ultimately the pilots job to get the bombs over the target. With the speed limitations, the pilot must know how to avoid those weapons targeting him. A Reaver pilot that picks up the Liberator cert will be very obvious. He will be the one that doesn't get away because he hits space for afterburners, and ends up wasting precious seconds moving his bomb cam around

Those using the Liberator to it's best advantage will not target individual soldiers, in my opinon. Due to the "bank" bombing resrictions, most soldiers will see the Lib coming, and move away 90 degrees, out of the bomb pass.

However, terrain chokepoints will belong to the Lib above all. Bridges, canyons and AMS equipment terminals will become mass graves. Vehicle terminals at just-capped bases would also make excellent Liberator targets, with the Liberator effectively halting any vehicle movement for at least 5 minutes. You can switch bomb types while dropping, so 5 AI clusters and 5 AV would destroy not only the vehicle term, but every living thing near it.

I feel the Lib is going to be an awesome weapon in the right hands. Dedicated pilot/gunner teams, and outfits organized enough to pull off Liberator Squadrons (there's a thought to give you chills: 10 in a row spaced 30 seconds apart = unending death from above, or 10 in tight wingman formation = a bomb over every square inch of a base, including walls and roofs) will be highly feared. Until then tho, you will probably see a sharp rise in "Nerf the Striker/Pheonix" threads from Lib Noobs that will do nothing for thier team but use up enemy ammo

Oh, and as far as dogfighting goes: don't. Anything gets behind and above, and ur history. And everything can get above and behind you

You guys are missing one thing... Thibk about the bombers in ww2, even the B17 needed one thing... An escort! This bomber was given obvious weak points so that in order to survive you need an escort! This ia great for skeet pilots like myself, because while escorting gals is fun, it isn't necessary. These libs will totally need escorts, it will make co-operation between armies much more needed.

The Liberator is awesome.

Strong Armor
Max Speed of 90mph
50 Bombs/10 bomb clip Fast RoF
2 bomb modes AI & AV
35mm Forward Gun
Small craft
Highly Manueverable

For a 2-man crew suicide mission, they can effectively spam a courtyard at max alt.

Escorts? Sure, but does that really work in PS enviroment when every Reaver & Mosq pilot wants ground kills?

Who's going to be cruising at 400m while the battle is hot and heavy on the ground waiting for the chance that a Liberator *might* show up?

Once a Liberator shows up, sure every Rever/Mosq pilot will after burn to try to take it down, but how many bombs will the bombadier would have released? 30? 40? 50? The bombs can be released at an EXTREMELY high RoF.

I can see 2-man suicide crews bombing Vehicle terms. Why? When was the last time you saw Reaver pilots at 400m above a friendly vehicle term guarding it, when they could be in an enemy SOI getting kills and gaining XP?

/me can answer all questions, i just spent an hour or 2 flying, bombing, and gunning in the liberator.

max speed is 90
the bombs drop exactly where you are pointing the cursor when you shoot one.
the plane must be almost exactly level for the bombs to drop, so no firing while flying up, down, or turning.
the bombs OWN, if you hear these things coming, you better kiss your ass goodbye.
i took out a vanguard with 3 av bullets, 10 in a clip.
me and a group of others were standing by a front door of a base, someone drops a barrage of AI ones on us, we were done after the first 1 or 2 hit.
they drop fast, but they have a delay between whent they shoot and when they hit, they fall about hte speed you fall when you bail from an air vehicle.
it is very slow without the afterburners, if you fly over a tower or base and the turrets start shooting you, it will take you down to about 1/8th armor left if you can't get away extremely fast.
