has anyone here played soldier of fortune my god is that game violent it single handely made me numb to violence bodies explode and everything !
I think this game needs some violence maybe really wounded people should leave small trails of blood and your armor should get torn up the more you get shot and when its weak then blood should be visible but not like soldier of fortune where bodies explode

I would like a realistic blood model, I really don't miss gibs though. It has always frustrated me that in Tribes you can't see people bleed when you rip em up with you chaingun (although I do agree that SoF2 takes it a little bit too far).
Ah well if this is gonna rock as much as I think it's gonna rock, I won't mind it at all. And it would be better for PS sales also of course, a lot of gamers being... well not in the mature rating category yet |

Well I don't know what the age for M is so I can't say anything about that.....
But the only reason I can think of where blood is needed apart from eye candy, is to show that you've hit them. I remember a ut mod (original ut =p) which made a beep every time you got a hit. It was slightly annoying, but useful.

SoF2 doesn't take it too far. It's made to have gratuitous violence and gore, that's it's charm. I love SoF2, for the gore and it's great gameplay. Very realistic without being boring.
Anyway back to the topic, UT2k3 sucks....oops wait wrong topic. I think gore wouldn't really have it's place in PS. Not that kind of game. Hopefully nades do make body parts fly as in Tribes but no need for blood and guts. |

I've played SOF2, and I thought the blood in it was pretty cool. Overall however I'd say it wasn't fantastic as a FPS. They put a lot of work into the gore, and not much into anything else to truly make it stand out. It's an above average shooter at best. Not going to win any awards anytime soon, but it's fun enough.
Oh, and Mortal Kombat wasn't a success simply because it had blood. Not by any means. I recall one arcade game that actually had limbs being severed and the models getting cut up as the fight went on. But you don't see that game anymore. Why's that? MK had superior gameplay. And it's the superior gameplay that decides at the end of the day whether a game will truly be great. |

I never liked MK. I was always a fan of the Street Fighter games. The game play was far superior, as were the story lines. Gore really had nothing to do with it. Samauri Showdown was a good one too and you could cut people in half in that game.
