You generally don't say "I" when doing a /me because it already says your name. Thus your /me would say "Ait'Al I let out a puff and it gently floats over your head." Thus, you would be saying someone else let out a puff and it gently floated over your head.

Just in your IRC. Most chat uses emote Like Ait'al *I do such and such.*

It doesnt usualy lead with a name in context. It usualy just uses the name so you know who emoted. And most people who chat think of hte action seperately after the name.
