That connection problem sounds very interesting, should look on www.deja.com if anyone else has had connectivity issues with that model.
You have one, if you search for your model on google, they display that multiple other models like yours are selling with AGP cards in them.

YAY! cool. alrighty then, i'll get a NVIDIA 5700 Ultra at www.newegg.com ... that's the cheapest one I found. should www.deja.com redirect me to the hompage of google groups? and how do I figure out what kind of RAM is compatible with my system? Last edited by SquirrelMan; 2004-03-05 at 12:08 AM. |

The 5700 Ultra is almost exactly the same as the 5900. And that XT you showed is a piece of shit. The clock speeds are less then the 5700 Ultra. If you want something more expensive, go for the Radeon 9800 Pro for $200. Otherwise, heres a nice 5700 Ultra for $169:

Too find out type of ram (SDRAM, DDR, RDRAM) look here:
http://www.planetside-universe.com/f...41&postcount=8 To find the speed, look here: http://www.planetside-universe.com/f...ad.php?t=20331 Edit: If you don't understand about the notches in the ram you can try the programs suggested by phaelon and skinnerer here: http://www.planetside-universe.com/f...ad.php?t=20271 But I think it's easier just to turn the comp off, take one stick out, and look at it. That means may only support up to 512mb individual stick sizes. So you should probly look for Dual 512 kits in whatever speed you support. Im not sure if you could just get two 1gig chips. But there too damn expensive right now anyway. Dual sets are just ones the factory checks for compatability speed wise. Can he buy a dual 2x512 set at the same speed as the 256 and get 1.5 gigs? Use Newegg.com for your primary search, and then look at www.Zipzoomfly.com to compare prices. They usually have ram at a few dollars to 10 or more cheaper than Newegg. But new egg is alot easier to search. There both Free 2 day ground shipping for all ram i think. And you can choose from OEM and Retail too if you want. OEM will be a little cheaper if you dont mind going without the manuals and diagrams.
And remember dual packs go buy there combined size when you look for them. So 2x512 pack will be under 1024 when you search. But they will say (2x512) somewhere in the description. You need to make sure its not an single 1024mb chip. Luckily, though, Dual sets are alway a little cheaper than buying two single chips of the same type. Here is some of the best ram you can get, but I don't know your speed so you'll have to help me out with that by following the instructions I gave you:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...=BROWSE&depa=0 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...=BROWSE&depa=0 Edit:
Edit #2: They say maximum is 2 gigs because they don't include anything over 512mb sticks. The newest of new comps will say 4 gigs because they do include them as they are becoming more popular. Theoretically you could get server ram and go over 16 gigs if you wanted to, but Win XP would have an overload. Last edited by dscytherulez; 2004-03-05 at 01:49 AM. |

Here are my 3 rams.
1. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...tCode=80060-15 2-2-2-5 Supposedly better cooling than the black ones. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...tCode=80060-14 2-2-2-5 Corsair took the lead for fastest ram when they released these too. FYI 8) Unless i remembered that wrong: This is the black one. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...tCode=80059-22 CAS 2.5 but 40 dollars cheaper. Id go with The first one though. Edit: Oh that second ones faster. Last edited by Ait'al; 2004-03-05 at 02:03 AM. |
