Quick translation guide from Girl to English
You're too nice = You are boring me to tears. I'm afraind of hurting you = You are making me feel worthless because I didn't have to fight for you Now that the definition is outa the way let me explain what many women see in Bad guys... they see a chalenge. They see someone who when they get them all setled down it'll mean something. Not some Convenient lump that may make a good accessory but otherwise is not exciting in the least. Women have a competitve streak that is thicker and meaner then any man (at least the women worth having) And finally what I say to all my friends who complain about how all their relationships fail in the same way. The only constant in all of your failed relationships is you. Think about it.

Harsh man, harsh. I used to be like you sound, and it bit me in the ass. In today's society it would seem that no girl wants to date someone with manners, a gentlemen, if you will. No, instead, all they want is someone to call them bitch and shove their tongue down their throat in public. I hate it. Someone with morals trying to find a girl? Ridiculous. So what did I do? I hid my morals. I know I shouldn't have, it made me feel like a man-slut, but I got a girl who previously didn't wanna know. Dumb shit ey? That relationship lasted ~1 year. Stupid, isn't it? You're nice, they don't wanna know, you fuck 'em around, and they want more.
I'd like to see a female perspective on all this. Maybe guys are *generally* the same, and we fuck around with nice girls?

Oddfish buddy, first let me apologise for my species letting you down. We're an unpredictably bad bunch of people most of the time.
It is my experience that the women who use the "you're too nice" line are shallow bitches not worthy of your time. The kind of girls who care more about a sale at American Eagle ("OMG like, 50% off OMG!!!") than long-term happiness. I'm not blowing sunshine up your ass (but I would if I could ), it seems to be the truth most of the time. Secondly, does anyone else notice the role-reversal here? THe woman breaks up with the man, says she still wants him around for sex, he gets pissed off and feels used? I love that women are getting more ballsy. Um, except when they hurt one of my friends. Thirdly, don't stop being nice just because some bitch dumped you because of it (no offense, but I didn't think she was that cute anyhow). I've dated plenty of assholes - guys who'd rather get wasted and pick fights than get me flowers - and who is it that I have a long-term, incredibly happy and stable relationship with? A guy who, the other night when he heard my stomach rumble, jumped out of bed, made me dinner and brought it to me on a tray. My point is, whether it's next week or next year, you'll eventually find a woman with self-esteem that will allow her to let people be nice to her. You don't need these types with the "daddy hurt me now I'll never be close to another man" bullshit baggage types. THey think you're too nice? That's their problem. Fuck them, they weren't that hot anyhow. Good luck buddy. I hope you don't get jaded because of this... You're too nice for that

trig, thanks. i see what your saying but, i tend to agree with pilgrim. i think maybe i was boring her. her previous boyfriend was a complete piece of shit who wouldn't even let her hang out with her own friends. i guess i just didn't put enough pressure on her to try to improve me somehow. i have plenty of flaws, just not the ones that seemed to bother her. 'skinda fucked up, but yeah, i must've bored her. which makes no sense to me, but, whatever.

i know. and, hell, i'm only 20. but, damn.. this has happened so many times. i just seem to see what pilgrim's saying: the only constant is me. this is my fault. i guess being nice is being boring. whatever. i'll have to settle for two week flings until i'm about 30, basically. nothing wrong with that... i guess...

You're right, it is your fault. You, for one reason or another, probably keep going for women with low self-esteem. Women with baggage. Women who are looking for a man to fix everything in their lives.
Of course, I've never met these girls. But trust me when I tell you that I have encountered enough real-life experience with situations like yours, and in all honesty I've been right a whole hell of a lot of times.

My sympathies. I've been through similar experiences with the whole 'You're too nice' gag (in my belief, the women that said that were psychopathic, and I don't think I'd be far wrong in that assessment..)
Being a jerk is not the answer. It's quite possible to be both nice and kinda cocky at the same time. There's some crazy doubleyourdating newsletter that I used to read before I started going out with my gf of over a year and it explained all this stuff pretty well. All about some crazy 'how to build and maintain attraction without being a complete ass' thing. But yeah, rambling. I'm no dating councillor. TB. |

Honestly the "nice guy" thing is just an easy out for women. I don't think it reflects shallowness, but it seems like a relatively harmless way to dump somebody. It's easier on yourself to dump somebody with trying to be nice to them and saying how you want to be friends, and how nice they really are. |

LOL! Been the receiving end of "too nice' many times. Ironcily, one of the reasons why my wife married me was because I was a very nice individual. What Elana said, "too nice" is just the quick and easy way to dump someone with no real apparent reason or the reasons will make you look really bad.
too nice = I need some space = I don't feal were really connecting anymore = 100% USDA Grade A Bullshit. Don't let it get to you, get up and move on. |

I had a string of these along with a 1yr marriage to one. Do what I did. Take 3yrs off from women and spank it. Stop looking for women. You don't need one.
...Then when you least expect it, one finds you, and after a few years to clear your head, you can see if shes the right one or a nut jub. At 20 years old you have time to take a few years and work on yourself. You'ld be amazed at how much clearer you see things when you aren't on "the hunt". Stop being stupid. You obviously have no business being in a relationship right now. Take some time, improve yourself, figure out exactly what you want in a relationship, and let one happen based on that. When she comes along she might not look hotT in a bikini. (OMG NO) Take a while so you can see truth young Padawan. Last edited by SDM; 2004-09-21 at 02:16 PM. |
