You will regret it. Get past your RPG-racism on something like WoW open beta, not Eve online, Ive played EQ, EQ2, and WoW and many other games, and I cant stand Eve online.

I really liked the story, it was enthralling.

I want this because I want a replacement for my sorely-missed Freelancer.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly.

I haven't gotten very far into it but its very well written and I like it.

A couple things:
This person is playing the game in a very, patient way, but its not going to pay off.
Trading and doing the stuff he does in the beginning really won't get you much money.

Heres what I did, and I've become pretty succesful in EVE. First I did some agent missions and got a frigate. Then I found a corp that was full of noobs like me, with some rich guys. Get them to help you out. Mine, its boring. Once you get a cruiser keep mining. Good cruisers for mining are thorax's, and ospreys. Osprey's are the best cruisers, if you train up they'll give you almost the same amount of ore as a battleship. What I did was I joined a corp moving into 0.0 space in an alliance. I mined some rare ores and made lots of money. If you played all day you'd make a hundred mil. You can however mine for the minerals to get a battleship, and if your corp is good they'll help you out. After you get a battleship its really up to you what you want to do. Right now they are the best ships for mining. Other than PvP i find eve boring so I joined a pvp only corp and all I do is kill people. Since we are based in 0.0 the rats give off 2 mil bounties so you can make money by hunting them. My corp gives me free insurance so If I lose my bs then I don't lose any money. PvPing is fun. To get good at it you gotta train your skills towards combat. ATM I am in Fountain killing FA with my BoB comrades.

You guys need to realize that this was written at the beginning of eve when battleships were still being researched. The game is a bit different now.

Well I finished it and what the guy did was pretty amazing. That is if its true.

good.

NEED MOAR SHIPS 4 MY FLEET!

So far we have about 6 of us. I am currently transitioning from Teir 3 Crusiers to batttleships so you will have plenty of firepower to back you. The larger our fleet becomes the more damage we can do to our enemys.

It's way to easy to get a decent ship.. I bought 3 Kestrel within a day of owning EVE. 3 within 3 days. And within a week I had over 1000000isk and one of the best frigates out there, armed to the teeth. That's the main reason I didn't play, it just seemed way too easy.

Oh, and about the story: this guy is a genius. Although that's a helluva lot of an effort for a game. :/

if you know how to do it, it is easy, but this story, i wanna point out, is not what EVE is like, i mean, you can do that, but it takes effort, you can do alot in eve, alot more than you can in any other MMO, but it takes creativity and effort.

Mr. Paul 1million isk is worth next to nothing. The kessi is a decent ship but anything else in the game will rape it. Id really like to see how "easy" it is to get interceptors or a teir 3 cruiser that opperates at high effiecency. Its not as easy as you painted it.

1 million may be next to nothing, but if you can make that in a week, and you use it wisely, the money goes up at an exponential rate. It just seems repetitive;
Buy ship, trade/ mine/ steal, sell, learn skill. Repeat.
The only thing that would hold you back is the time it takes to learn new skills.
