I am a geek not really a nerd, though one may use the two interchangeably if they are not on the..."inside".
I can build computers, and i forum/game whore, but i am NOT a programmer.

Geek. I have quite a social life, and play sports. However, a lot of my social life is derived from geek-related activites - LAN Parties, D&D, etc. However, I do hang out with my friends quite a bit.
Im a geek, but I also retain some normal-person qualities. Have had some relationships, one lasted 6 months, the others, 2 or 3 weeks. Wangface.

It's all relative. If I went to a school somewhere in Oklahoma where sports and football are the most important things in the world, then I would be a huge geek. But living in Virginia and going to the school I go to, I would say no. If anything I consider myself eccentric. I'm not a jock, gangster, stoner, drama kid, band kid, goth, science kid or anything else. I don't fit in any cliques or groups, I associate with a large, diverse group of people, although only a few I actually consider "good friends." I consider myself much more open minded and intellectual than most of the people I know and thus am sometimes annoyed by them (IE idiot racists, girls that act like ditzs, people that consider any conversation that goes beyond what they drank/smoked/banged on Friday a deep one).
As for games being important in my life, yes I consider them very important. I take them seriously and they are one of my major hobbies. However, I also race gokarts, am a professional comedian in a comedy troupe, bowl, love auto racing, enjoy photography, used to run cross country before my knees fucked up, spend time with friends, work hard in school, and more. But, as I stated, it's all relative. What someone thinks a nerd is another may think isn't. |

I have a boyfriend who is a geek, but a very social, clean, loveable geek.
I have friends in many different countries who go out and drink and go out and see movies and throw dinner parties. I do yoga and pilates. I used to play soccer, lacrosse, and softball. I quit playing softball when I realised my teammates were hitting on me (that was 7th grade).

I don't think I qualify for either. I'm one of the "subtley cool" people. I say this because my school is full of people like this so it's not hard to be cool. Personally I'm rarely around people my age, and much prefer to hang out with people from the sixth form, or one of the local Universities. I go to parties (well, a lot less recently, as I've been putting aside time to study, shame I never actually do it ), have had more than my share of girlfriends, and quite a lot of friends. I'm very smart (apparently) yet no-one calls me a nerd, so I guess I must be doing some things right!

nerd ? ? That term has always made me feel bad.
do you have a life? Sort of a girlfriend/boyfriend (who isn't a nerd like you maybe)? Never had one. friends ? Well obviously do you play sports ? Hell no are you good ? As in I've never gotten a detention in my life at school? Then yes. are games a big part of your life ? Yes all of your life ? Except for when I was a little baby. are parties for you lan parties ? My friends think it's too geeky to do that. or actual parties ? I haven't been to an actual party since April and even then I just played MP2 all night on my friend's PC. |

The memories, the memories ;_; (which is kinda ironic seeing as how I'm a guy who doesn't leave my chair by any means)

geek not nerd. i have friends. i don't go to otakon. i have a girlfriend. i don't play magic: the gathering. however, other cliques (meaning the ignorant) don't realize that there's a difference; they just think i'm not a nerd/geek or that i am, depending on whether they meet me when i'm working or not.

Jock is supposedly a different version of the name Jack... but still its rofflelicious.
Now elaborate on the difference between a geek and a nerd for me... I'm not so sure about my answer. YOU PEOPLE ARE HINDERING MY SEARCH FOR MY INNER SELF!
