Actually the picture shows all right handed people. Note left hand is on shoulder of guy in front of him. Thats because right hand is holding the weapon. Also note the right foot is behind each person. The position of strength stance of a right handed person. If they were left handed the left foot would be towards the back. The Army teaches left handed people how to shoot lefthanded. There is a brass deflector that can be attached on the weapon that deflects spent brass to the left instead of to the right to keep the brass out of a left hand persons face. The left eye of the left hand shooter is usually stronger, and the the right eye of the right hand person is usually stronger. As well as Arm Strength. BTW the arms are on the shoulders so the group can all move as one. In PS2 as in real life, a shooter would not change the position of his weapon to look around a corner. You do that with your head. Especially since there will be no 3rd person view for you to look around in. Oh NO - You will have to expose yourself to fire. No more looking around corners lol.

It might be a cool feature to allow you to choose your handedness when creating your character, and although you can switch which hand you're firing with in-game, your aim is reduced a bit with your weaker hand as it would be.
That's pretty much a gimmick though, might not be worth it if it's a lot of work. |

It would be cool to beable to switch hands during a fight, but some people might thinks thats over powered or 'odd'. Maybe it can be changed whenever you want in the options menu, but it only takes effect after death? Like in COD if you choose a new class, it only takes effect till after you die.

If you include it, just make it a very baseline feature such as in APB. Given, APB is a third person game, but I don't see why that even matters much in this discussion. Just to show a bit how APB did it.. it's so baseline feature that it totally comes out of the "spine" by now.. Like watch some 20s onwards from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...9L6GyW8#t=380s I switch shoulders something like 20 times during that time It's just so natural that you always switch to the "appropriate" shoulder for the direction you are going to/facing, cos in APB the third person camera does so much. In PS2 it wouldn't be as useful cos you cant use it to look around corners, but it would still at least allow you to expose a little less of yourself when shooting around left hand corners.

I guess i am the odd man out here :P. I am right-handed, but due to certain invasive damage to my right eye i had to complete my military service left-handed.
Didn't stop me from getting top marks for marksmanship. Also we used this thing with 0% hot brass in face, perhaps once to my hand in some god awful twister cluster fudge situation. It's not a do or die thing for me, but it would be a nice feature to switch sides. |

In planetside 1 the NC max felt pretty awkward to me as that was left handed, but after using it after a long period of time it started to feel natural.
I doubt planetside 2 is going to have the option to change over but it would be nice for the lefties if they did. I am left handed but play games right handed lol so I do feel for the lefties :P if they dont change it over maybe its something that you will get used to and will probs feel natural after time |

My dad is also very much right handed, but his left eye is dominant, so he actually shoots from the left. He also usually wins all the local shooting competitions that he participates in around here His bolt lock rifles are funny cos he has pretty much modified them himself. He has simply just bent the handle-thingie on the other side of the rifle lol.

its just a cosmetic adjustment for the first person or 3rd person view right?
I doubt the point of origin for the firing vector is offset...I mean, if you are using scope view, its dead center right?..I would suppose hip firing is as well (irrespective of the left / right hand offset).. If that's the case, I doubt it'd be a big deal technically ... as others have stated, the model and animation just get (*-1)'d in the X axis |
