What they need though are incentives to continue playing. LoL's first win of the day bonus works wonders for the game. PS2 could have a similar system that gives twice the rewards for your first few kills/assists/repairs etc each day. Last edited by Klockan; 2012-07-20 at 08:09 AM. |

So when you compare PS2 to it's direct competitors, free-to-play first person shooters... well, PS2 wins by a mile. Add to that the fact that it isn't "pay to win" like ALL of those other F2P shooters are, and it should beat them all in playerbase by a LOT. |

i think this game could seriously really get a millions players it's one of a kind. it has no competition and people are going to freak when they see youtube videos after official launch. nothing else does what this game does period. i see bf and cod peeps who have decent pc's packing up shop and moving to this free game. it's free wtf would you not play even?

i beg to differ... i am a member or a few different fps gaming communities , many clans/ outfits are moving over to ps2.there is even a thread about a bf3 outfit moving over already. many more are soon to come.if they keep the hackers at bay this game will blow up. id say 1,000,000 in the first 3 months easy. this gaming will set the standard to all fps that follow. just like wow did. |

I won't throw out any numbers, but I believe PS2 has the potential to be huge, if this game can attract people like me. I don't even like FPS, in general, but a persistent MMO FPS? That's new, and something I've always wished for. I actually never heard of PS1 until I heard about PS2 though lol.
After hearing about PS2 last year I've been following it closely and I can surely say I don't think I've ever been so excited for a game period. And when I say I don't like FPS in general, it's certain aspects I mean. The whole round system and you change teams every round or so is what bothers me. I want to fight for team, a cause if you will. PS2 seems to deliver on that. |

Due to the F2P aspect, they need to release a month or to prior to the holiday shopping season. If they wait until November/december, then much of the potential player base will be playing games they received as gifts.
They should be releasing September/October...and really no later than mid October. They also need to fix whatever glitches come up at launch quickly. As F2P, since there's no up front cost, people will find it easier to give up playing the game than something that was bought/gifted/subscribed. Assuming they release prior to the holiday season and that we face minimal launch problems and they are actually able to minimize hackers, I see them getting 350k to 400k downloads of the game with around 320k active after one month. 300+k after one month may not sound like much but the beauty of the F2P model is that it has the ability to go viral. The real growth will happen after 2 months.if it goes viral in Asia, then the calculations change. Asia obviously has a much larger population than NA or Europe, but I wonder what the net $/active account will be in each continent. I mention this because we should not be shocked to see a figure of 2 million plus active accounts....but it needs to be tempered by the fact that the vast majority of these will be non-paying (or, in F2P terms, "content") players. I think what I'm trying to say here is: 1) i'm fairly positive that we'll come to find that the gameplay/art developers have done a good job of making a worthy product. 2) we'll have to see how customer service, anti-hacking, and technical problems are handled after release. 3) in the long run, turning players into cash flow will determine the success of this game for all of us. |

I will glady put my money towards this game on a monthly basis. One thing from gaming many years has showed me about this dev group. They value their customers opinion greatly. Never seen that much dedication to their userbase in....forever? DICE still puts a bad taste in my mouth from BF 3.

I think PS2 will probably reach 300k+ accounts first week (pop-capped servers, long queues), 600k-800k+ accounts first month after release (additional servers opened -> queues are gone or became insignificant). Then, after initial wave of interest will fall (2-3 month), the active population will gradually fall, stabilising around 150-200k active subscribers world-wide to the end of 12th month after release. If the game will be popular in Asia, this number can be multiplied roughly by 2.
