Re: Premium subscription now available

Can someone tell me what the subscription price for 6 months is in US dollars? I just want to compare and see if we here up in scandinavia get shafted as usual on the currency.

For reference, in NOK it's 510 total (88,78USD) for 6 months, as converted on xe.com today.

Add to that the biggest possible membership bonus, and you get 24 per day.
Fairly insignificant then considering it takes like 1000 certs to buy something big. That's 42 days of waiting (with logging in every 24hrs) with maximum bonuses =P

I paid $72 bucks, or $11.99 per month for a six month block here in the U S of A.

I think the Euro prices were pretty reasonable. We only need to pay about 5$ more for a six month sub, which is understandable.
It could have been a lot worse.

I'm currently on an SOEAAP 1-month recurring subscription. Is there any way I can take advantage of the 6-mo bonuses?

If you've already been subscribed for at least 6 months that counts also. Only other thing you can do is change your all access pass to 6 months.

Of course, it figures we dirty europeans have to pay an extra +23,3% eurotrash fee. *sigh*

I guess I will have to look into ways of ordering this crap via proxy if I choose to do so.

Thanks a lot for checking the numbers for me though. I'm frustrated at the system, not you

Why is that understandable? Are you just content about paying more for exactly the same product?

Its 16,78USD more by my count by the way...

But that was converted from NOK. Maybe if you converted it from euros or something then you are just getting a little less shafted. Scandinavians are usually the ones who get to experience the thickest and most splitered end of the shaft in these types of currency deals...

6 month sub: 510NOK (88.78USD equivalent)
Native US price as reported by beerbeer: 72USD.
88.78-72 = 16,78USD

Don't EU prices have to include VAT too? I seem to remember Blizzard having to charge something like 15% on EU subscriptions to their MMO, while no such tax was payable for US/Canada.

Not continously. Altough if interrupted past periods (way back in 2008-10 count), I've had the pass for more than 6+ mo).

I actually subscribed to that not too long ago for EQ2 as I was under the impression PS2 was not included. So I was going to get the pass for other games, and then buy 6mo of PS2.

If I cancel it, can I re-add it as a 6-mo recurring right away? Or do I have to wait until Dec when my paid time expires?

For the most part I blame taxes, not SOE. I know some companies that seem to "round off" the euro/dollar difference, so the prices become quite steap.

And yes, I converted it from euros since I live in Finland. 60 euros comes to about 77 dollars, making the difference 5 bucks... not even enough for a pint.

I'm not really sure about that, might want to contact support. It might work so if you were to cancel the auto-renew and then buy 6 months it would wait until December to charge you but then you might also not get the 6 month benefits until December.

That's how I'd expect it to work unfortunately. Thanks, I'll try support.

Maybe its petty, but it just bothers me. Yea, some of it is probably due to some obscure tax stuff that is equally stupid in the end (a purely digital service via the internet really has no business being taxed).

In any case it seems that I've moved to the U.S all of a sudden. Greeting fellow americans. How 'bout that election huh? Can't say that not having to pay an extra 20-25% on all subscription and station-cash purchases from now until forever will bother me all that much, petty or no...
