Well on Gamespot they have genre specific forums that go completely unused, despite having a lot of forum users.

I would say go for it if there is a population to support such a thing. You don't want 20+ nearly empty forums.

What about "Region" Specific Forums rather than Server Specific? East Coat, West Coast, EU etc?

You could try server specific initially, if they appear to be quiet or too much work to moderate you could then merge them into zones

Maybe 1 each for each large server and the smaller ones can be grouped by region.

The Original ps1 Forums had that.

Regional and Server i think it was a very Good thing, i don´t know why they Isolating the Community into different Forums, like the German and the SOE ones ect,...
