Huh... I like Crossbows.
Also crossbow bolts can pierce armor where Bullets fail because of the higher weight. Add in some hightech repeating mechanic, and you can have a machinegun-crossbow...
Then you could add some fancy ammo, like explosives, EMP and so on, attachments too big to fit in a Bullet...
Range issues can be addressed by "Hey, it's hightech" simply said So technically you could even have Sniper Crossbows, SMG-Crossbows, even Scattercrossbows...
So I'm not opposed to it, though I can't see any niche where they could fit in without changing the whole combat mechanic (and implementing debuff-like effects like bleeding, crippling, confusing and the like), as we already have weapons for every situation...

Thats coming from a casual player who's not really into the lore of PS2 :P

It's alot more serious than you think. The DEV's are going to troll us and add Zombies, why else would they add a crossbow?

What would be next? Energy battle axes (how about energy blades first?)? Ballistic knifes? But while we are at it, as they are already thinking about dual wielding those aren't as far fetched as one might think.

There is no more chain-blade. It's just a blade now. That's the entire point, they've already stripped this game of a few futuristic elements, they don't need to do more

Think it's already been mentioned but do I remember that a dev mentioned some sort of NC crossbow/shotgun hybrid at some point "whenever"? Forget who it was but know they've been mentioned a couple of times.

They can offer a silent, ranged option. Silent, can shoot up to medium range. I think Infils would love such a weapon.
