Well I bought the game and so far I'm pleasantly suprised. The game is fun, the graphics rock, having two screens makes coordination much easier, and watching the little planes fly around is fun as shit.
It's cool seeing your subs launch small little missiles underwater, and how lasers/bullets from planes/AA turrets don't always hit their target. The only thing I can see slightly off with the game is that building units takes WAAY too long considering they die extremely fast. Thus, you have to build HORDES of units (which takes even longer) to get anything done. Resource management is easy. The game is just a little slow paced because of how long unit creation takes.

So I decided to play on the 81km water map, in supremecy mode because it's fairly easy to nab enemy comanders with nukes and stuff).
Boy was that silly. I built up this ridiculous base on one island, with this system of pods under shields and anti-strategic missile batteries, a couple pods of fusion plants and metal makers an air factory hub, a nuke plant(5x strategic launchers) an experimental hub and then a navy yard Surrounded by SAM's and t2 and t3 artilery. I repelled a battle group of his with the t3 arty before I had visual with anything (He shot at me with nukes faster than I planed on nukeing him, he nabed 5 t3 engineers :/ that spurred the spreading out with the 'pod' system) I got a force up of 5/10 battleships and the aeon experimental BS and alot of support, and sent it after his main base(I flew a spy over and found his anit-missile batteries, he shot my first nuke down). It was a hell of a shoot out between artilery and the UEF mobile base/battleship things I ended up withdrawing 3 bs and my carrier. But I managed to know out his AMS(or perhaps 5 nukes at once simply over loaded it) The explosions were magnificent. It took me 30mins to clean up the mass miners, fo which I used my stockpile of nukes to level whole islands. Then I had to search for one damned mobile base that I didn't catch.

Thats one of the options, you can also do when the enemy commander is destroyed or even sandbox mode where the game never ends.
I am messing around on that map right now.. I didnt go with the hard core AI though. The computer tends to be really dumb on the lower AI - he keeps nuking the same spot over and over which has nothing on it..

One other thing I want to say is about the campaign. I'm on the second mission and I'm trying to destroy this island base. However, I'm crippled by the game because it only lets me build certain units, which are inadequate for a base of this size. It's COVERED with AA turrets, so I need to send frigates to destroy them. However whenever I do destroy one, the AI just builds another one RIGHT away, with no engineers present. So basically I cannot destroy the AA, and therefore cannot bomb their structures, and therefore cannot destroy it. The only possible solution would be to build like 40 frigates and just have them sit there shelling the base. It's pretty gay.

Is it me or is this the vanu sovereignty(green and silver, aliens reborn vs storyline, that bfr looking thing is basically the original alphelion) New conglomerate ( old ideals reborn, sheilds, tanks that almost look exactly like vanguards,) and Terrain republic(black and red, etc etc)
I think this is one of the guys who did PS. the opening screams redone larger cooler PS storyline with more epic and cool sci fi feel. I know this is the guy who did the older rts'. But, I get the feeling when he said it was dream fisished from something from 2003 he means not finishing PS properly or the ideas that made PS. They even call them factions. That is the TR, NC, VS. Or am I nuts. The alien loving race is a slightly different VS where they just took up the cause after finding them dead and holding their ideals from a more personal and expansive relationship. The opening campaign pictures for the blue team IS a giant scatter cannon or the AV max. One of the green teams mechanical walking things again is alot like the original one person alphelion bfr. And aren't those stealth looking blue planes the original beta pre beta mossies or reavers. Last edited by Ait'al; 2007-03-15 at 12:20 AM. |
