lol, was I right or was I right when I said this was going to turn into another long ass debate? I like everyone making fun of the french canadians as if they're french. Last I heard, people in France hate french Canadians. I guess they see them as wanna-bes. Je ne sais puis pas parlais francais.
As for all the stuff about 1812 being the british, Canada was founded in 1867, so technically it WAS the british. Canada was founded by the people who were fighting though, so it also WAS Canada. So saying it was britain fighting is like saying the British fought the British in the American revolution because the States hadn't truly gotten their independence until they beat Britain. |

If you were to pinpoint when the entinty that is the USA came about you would probably pick the declaration of independance(July 4th, 1776), not the Treaty of paris (September 3rd 1783). There is a reason why we celebrate July 4th as independance day and not September 3rd.

except hitler didn't have nukes. And didn't have the means for a really devastating bio/chem attack. And we were isolationist at the time. so thats irrelevent. What we do know is that Saddam DID have weapons in the gulf war, we told him to destroy them, waited 12 years, came back, and he hasn't proven that he has destroyed them like he was ordered. With his near unlimited oil money, he can dig holes as deep in the sand as he needs to hide what he wants. Also, the reporters going in and hearing iraqi's say they love saddam is bullshit. If they said the contrary, they get their ears cut off. The iraqis who have left the country say they want him out, and fast.
Now why did I start that? must be the "Curse of the Lounge"

No offense to any Canadians here, but Canada is basically just a bigger, colder America. Seriously, we don't even have a different cultural background and we still bicker like an old married couple. Beer tastes like beer no matter where you get it from...

Yep, Canadas culture turned into American culture so theres no real difference between the two, aside from Canada being a official bi-lingual (sp?) country. (Of course, thats enforced different in different provinces, etc.)
As for 'aboot' im guessing that came from Canadians smuggling in (bootlegging) alcohol into the US when alcohol was legal in Canada and still illegal in the US. Mucho money. The only time ive heard someone say 'aboot' is when people are trying to make fun of Canadians. |

I've NEVER heard a Canadian pronounce it "aboot". Don't try saying cause I'm a canuck I just don't realize it. Maybe I should go talk to some newfoundlanders, they might say it like that. They talk real funny (lord be tundering jesus). Canadians do say "eh?" though. I like it. Americans say "huh?" and that just makes you sound dumb. Not to mention the southerners saying "y'all." Like a texan asked me "y'all from Canada?" when there was just me.
