Yeah, but it would be totally acceptable to have two cups there... just can't be big because thats bad...

If it is, it seems rather curious that they'd go to the trouble of grouping the stations by team, and then only put two teammates next to each other, instead of either 4 or 6 (we heard 12 stations at E3, right? Do we know whether the E3 battle will be 2-sided or 3-way?)...

If the posters aren't significant, and are simply showing the 3 factions, I wonder whether all the E3 stations will be on one team or not.

There are certainly advantages and disadvantages to stacking the E3 players on the same team. More local teammates definitely could promote a better sense of teamplay and cooperation. At the same time, I'm sure all the industry press would love to use the game to take out their friends, coworkers, and rivals...
