Yeah, right.

So the man left Chelsea to play in a chinese team for lots of money (because face it, he didn't go there for the challenge), but he wouldn't accept even more money from his new boss just to make some advertisements for a video game?

You're quite Drogba's fanboy, aren't you?

Get over it, he signed with Shanghai Shengshua and The9's owner didn't forget to add some advertising clause in the contract.

Drogba is a nice guy and loves his country. While he did not stop a war by himself, he did try his best to appease the situation and call for peace. I have a lot of respect for him. Too sad they could not win the CAN though.

Concerning The9, I don't see anything wrong about accepting a contract with (very) good conditions. The world is larger than Europe/North America and developing countries have changed a lot in 20 years.

I am not entirely surprised to see Drogba working in China. The Chinese have a strong/growing presence in Ivory Coast.

If anything, it's a very good event for Chinaside... and the Chinese. Maybe their national team will actually get better at soccer ().

Can't help but get scared for the future. SOE are going to feel like they are standing next to El Dorado with a bulldozer after seeing how successful the Pay2win model the Chinese will undoubtedly use is.

You don't know that.

Nobody here really cared about the terms of The9 and SOE partnership when it was announced, but SOE might not allow The9 to sell power in the cash-shop, just like Pro7 isn't allowed to.

I don't see anything wrong about that either.

I just find ridiculous to read that "Drogba stoped a civil war (O rly?), so he can't have accepted to advertise a game about killing people".

I hate Chelsea. Its that i have a fair understand of football. If you where close to retirement and someone offered you millions to play for them I'm sure you would regardless of the location. Look at Russia for instance.

But back to the original post. Drogba is not the face of planetside 2.

What sort of worries me is that there's absolutely no activity on side of
prosiebensat1 ... i registered an account there, but not even any real
news about Planetside 2, no pre-start announcement, nothing.

As if prosiebensat1 isn't even going to host it at all ...

What are the "subtleties" of NC lore in mainland China? Obviously the enemy factions look upon them as corporate stooges hypnotyzed by a dangerously simpleton "freedom" memetic that expresses itself as terrorism... just as the enemy factions in NA and Europe do.

But how do the NC look upon themselves in the PRC? Are they the heroes in blue fighting the tyrants in red? Have there been any subtle lore changes?

Is this Smedleys 'big announcement' this week , or is it something else gone under my radar?

If size does matter then we can take some pointers from the Chinese because this stage is huge.

Yes, lesson was, re-check thread on topics you know about... Advanced Search is good for this cause you can look up by username. So just type your username and you'll see all the threads you posted in and can revisit if they have new posts....
