Haven't seen any obvious ones on Waterson, though one player once gave me doubts.

Re: Recent influx of hackers

In the last few days there are some blatant cheaters on European Servers. One killed around 2600 people in 8.5 hours on Miller. Since there are no in-game GMs anymore, he derped around without being disturbed.
Same thing on Cobalt today. A VS player obviously aimbotting, collision hacking and even flying. (Probably ESP hack too, since they come in one big package.) He admitted that he's cheating and wrote in the yell chat "You can't ban me. I have HWID and IP Bypass". It's really due time that SOE implements a proper Anti-Cheat software.

305 kills every second?? Or did I get my maths wrong again?

EDIT: Woops looks like it was actually 305 kills every hour. Damn!

I can't remember meeting any obvious hackers ever at Cobalt (apart from the ones who knew how to get a sundy under the floor at Crown ages ago), although i haven't really played the game last month or so, too busy with DayZ SA.

I've been called a hacker few times though;
1st ever was a Mossie pilot who i shot down with a Magrider (he thought it was a good idea to hover in front of me like 50 meters away)...

one was some pre-nerf VulcanHarrasser nub who i killed in full speed with Manaturret, god that was glorious... i laughed my ass off, he started raging at me via pm's about how i was cheating and Manaturret was OP (guy with VulcanHarrasser, gunner and engineer onboard whining about something else being OP *rofl*)..

oh and one Reaver pilot landed his plane too close, got blown up by my lock-on launcher and threw a hissyfit calling me a hacker cause by his opinion i was too far to even get a lock-on..

Well... S'funny you should mention hackers today. Yesterday I reported a guy who managed to kill half a dozen of us through spawn room shield.

Might of been a glitch and I messaged the guy but he simply ignored me (the right thing to do I suppose).

Re: Recent influx of hackers

I was rummaging through the history of people I had interacted with in the last little while and found a person that I killed who had a 5 KDR, so I decided to check his killboard to see what he was doing right. Well, it's pretty clear that what he is doing is toggling his aimbot on at times. Periods of normal play accented by 10 seconds of nothing but headshots with an NC LMG. When I saw that I decided to take the time to compare his killboard to others in with the same 4 to 5 KDR and in ALL other cases the KDR was high due to MAX or vehicle usage. Some had an a run of infantry on their killboards, but none of them had strings of headshots like the first guy (who had 3 in a single second at one point...).

Indeed, SOE needs to get their shit together when it comes to stopping hackers/cheaters. SOE made a great system to track stats, but there's no point in paying attention to them, because who knows how many times you've been hurt by or have benefited from a hacker. Sadly, I doubt this will ever be fixed.

I'd like to see the statistics that support the claim of there being a surge of hackers, if it hasn't been posted already.

What chaps my ass is that there have also been a huge number of PS2 hacking videos on YouTube, with links to the software.

I really don't understand the idea of cheating in a game. Doesn't the lack of any considerable challenge Getty boring?

Possibly, but the fun of watching people who don't understand that a game is just a game get angry never ends.

Re: Recent influx of hackers

This happened on Woodman, Esamir just a few minutes ago:

I was shot through the spawn room walls...

You told MeOrMyMoM: How are you shooting into the spawn room?
You told MeOrMyMoM: Reported
You told MeOrMyMoM: Cheating fuck.
[TELL] [MeOrMyMoM]: sorry, but im bypassing every hwid and ip bans
[SAY] [Smittys]: what the hell
You told MeOrMyMoM: seriously dude, you're a fucking worthless pussy. can't win by skill, so you have to cheat.
[TELL] [MeOrMyMoM]: proud of it
You told MeOrMyMoM: You shouldn't be. You must be won of those fucks who can't do anything in life.
[SAY] [ElementSmipes]: i hope your all happy spawn trapping us through walls
[MeOrMyMoM] killed you.
[YELL] [MeOrMyMoM]: i admit in whole server i am hacking
[YELL] [MeOrMyMoM]: do not bother reporting me as i can bypass HWID ban and IP bans (although that ip ban might take me a few mins but)
[YELL] [TheWorstEnemy]: guys i large fight i have lag do you mybe know why and how to fix it
[YELL] [Gezuschrist]: lol HWID and IP bypassing is easy as shit
[YELL] [MeOrMyMoM]: yes and they dont got any other bans to give me so its hopeless

Nice. I apologize for my language in the conversation, but you can see my frustration.

Really? Are you saying that hacking is OK, because a game is just a game? The thousands of players who enjoy playing that game, me included, don't want it ruined by some zit-faced kid who can't win without cheating.

If you're not saying that, please clarify. You're making is sound as if you condone that behavior.

Re: Recent influx of hackers

I think the problem with F2P games is that anybody can create as much accounts as desired. And there's the technology of HWID and IP bypassing that every cheater now knows and uses. There's basically nothing to do for Game Companies unless they want to turn their game into a classical "pay once" or Subscription based game. F2P is the rising trend that is about to become the Industry Standard but has huge problems like not be able to prevent cheaters. The only way to prevent cheating in F2P games might be to have tons of GMs available any time of the day on all servers + automatic cheat detection that scans statistics of all players online continuously. Off course this option is quite expensive and considering that there are no GMs left at all in PS2 atm, I can't feel optimistic about the future of PS2. If there's anything that'll cause the downfall of PS2, it'll be the cheaters rather than balance problems causing people to quit.

Re: Recent influx of hackers

Having un-paid volunteer players within the community act as GMs would be great! Get some really trusted players to act as GMs and have shifts between being a GM and playing normally or both if that's possible.

How has no one come up with this yet?

SOE used to do something similar with Everquest II and Star Wars Galaxies.

I'm saying that tears are delicious, regardless of how they're harnessed. It's exclusive from the morality of what way you choose to get them.

Hackers are dicks, and deserve to be banned, but if you let yourself get salty about them then you're just letting them win. Planetside 2 is a huge game. If someone's wall hacking you at Zurvan pump, report who you think they are and go somewhere else to fight. The chances of you meeting the same people in a day's worth of playing tends to be almost infinitely low unless they're apart of an organized platoon.
