I think the main value in buggies is as glass-cannon skirmishers that have the potential to quickly bring some vehicle-class firepower to a fight.
They'd also be among the only ground vehicles capable of running down a Sunderer. The ATV might be able to do that Fury-style, but when I think of buggies I definitely think of something sturdier than an ATV. Buggies would be a nice middle-ground between ATV and MBT in terms of durability, but have high speed and carry near-tank quality firepower with speeds far exceeding tanks and able to catch a Sunderer. I also liked how buggies could potentially be super-specialist vehicles capable of fulfilling a damage role better than anything else (mortars, skygaurd, or AV-rockets). And of course they're cheap resource-wise. |

I'd really like to see them put a non certed lightly armored transport into the game that spawns in groups at outposts and is accessible by everyone. Most of the time people would just use their customized specialty vehicles, but in a pinch, a quick unarmed transport could be a useful thing to have, especially if there are no vehicle terminals in sight.

Maybe these are what they decided to stuff into a Galaxy instead of an ATV or two?
It looks like it only has room for 2 players up front. Maybe one more can enter through the trunk? It looks like the height of the suspension relative to the cab would prevent seating more than 1 passenger wide toward the back. |

I hope this vehicle will carry the most potent AA weaponry, like the Tunguska/LAV-AD in BF3.
Tanks should have "token AA" even if it costs resources, definitely not flak. I'm thinking a linear gun, like a minigun. Definitely not flak, maybe a slow-firing guided missile. Something to scare away a good pilot, kill a noob pilot, or provide decent air defense when used with other AA-equipped tanks. Lightnings should have more potent AA weaponry, maybe a more powerful minigun or combined minigun+guided missiles. Something on par with BF3's Tunguska/LAV-AD. Not as powerful as the "Deliverer's" though, since it only requires one person. The "Deliverer" should have the most powerful, Skyguard-grade AA weaponry, perhaps as standard, so that even new players get access to a really good Reaver deterrent. As a transport, it will definitely need at least two people, so it deserves proper AA guns. Having AA by default also makes a lot of sense - as a light transport it should be able to evade and outrun tanks and infantry, making it mostly vulnerable against aircraft. Also, the two things on the "Deliverer's" side look kinda like like magninegun ports. |
