Honestly, I don't give a crap if anyone else got into tech test.... Not everyone is going to get in and telling everyone here who hasn't gotten in just brings us down.... We all know the tech test is going on and some are getting invited.... So, no need to advertise that you did....
EDIT: And a violation of the PSU NDA! You posts will be deleted just like the ones that were deleted that I made this post about.... Last edited by Crator; 2012-07-17 at 08:10 PM. |

While Mr. Nukem has a point in the whole "nostalgia" thing, this misconception really needs to be dispelled: even the tech test is mostly for play. SOE can't honestly expect everyone getting in to know very much about PC's.
When a developer brings in external testers, they handle the brunt of the problem solving through indirect information gathering. All they can really ask of the players without requiring they have a degree in IT is what they were doing when the problem occurred. They didn't hand pick experienced testers that have gone through real beta testing phases - SOE hand picked system specs. In short: external testing has to be built on the concept that the testers are about as intelligent as a brick when it comes to how PC's work. It's about stress testing and balance testing for the most part, not hunting down bugs (real, hired testers find most of those.) I can't say people are exactly out of line for being upset they didn't get an invite (everyone wants to play,) as I can't say the current or future testing phases are going to be expecting professional testers professionally testing in professional ways. Drawing from the masses, SOE simply shouldn't expect that kind of quality of tester from more than a handful in a thousand. SOE expects us to play, and play hard, but likely within set guidelines so they can gather data on specifics, like weapons balance. Last edited by Littleman; 2012-07-17 at 09:37 PM. |

Why so serious?
I've been in many beta tests. I treat them as periods of pre-release practice. If I find a bug, I will report it. But I won't go out of my way to find them. Planetside 2's beta is no exception. So, please, don't go work yourself to liver cancer because other people aren't as informed about nomenclature or are as serious about a game's development process as you are. Live and let live, amirite? |

I don't get why people get so upset when others make comments on what kind of fun they want to have on beta. Yes some of them don't get that it's not supposed to be a demo, but some do. Complaining about it makes no difference at all.
Those who know what beta is still want to have fun while in there and they want to share their expectations in forums. Also, people who never heard of what a beta is are born every day and they will always show up and get picked to participate, no ammount of posts about how it's a tragedy that they get in while serious testers don't will change that... their presence still makes a difference, and they sometimes become better testers after getting into their first beta. So in short: why so serious? It's not worth it to get upset about it. |

ahahaha if u think only serious people should get into beta then ur WRONG. Devs know this. Usually the leeches or people who want in just for the fun are, welcomed. Because a very small portion of people will actually report. While the rest will just stress test the server and provide bodies for people who really are testing.
Ive been in a few betas. Most recently, in Firefall beta. Alot of people are in FF beta. Most play for fun, a few report every single bug/glitch/exploit. I played for beta testing and fun. But I never had a chance to report anything because it already was reported by many many people. So all I could do was confirm it. I saw people saying x and x should be banned because they were exploiting the shizz out of z. Dude, its beta, we are suppose to break the game. So if somoene says they want in beta just to play, dont QQ or rage over it. Your just wasting ur health and time. Not sure what I was trying to get across here |
