Personally I love the updates, even if they do turn out to be false in the end.

It means that SOE can still treat us like adults, even though we do have a few bad apples.

I'm sure this is going to disappoint a lot of people.

This isn't a glorified demo compared to 90% of betas today. This is a game that needs real testing. These things are going to happen.

I think a lot of people here just want to play it and forget that it's a beta test. A broken, buggy, unfinished version of the game of where we are here to try to help them along.

I didnt have to get the 20 dollar shipping on my graphics card I'm guessing a donkey could have got it here by beta........I CANT TAKE IT!!!! Bring on the TABLES!!!11!one!

the beta will start next mon or tuesday barring any unforseen circumstances.

He never was 100% sure the beta would start today and tommorrow. You guys have to understand that a lot of people are going to be invited to the closed beta. If the beta runs horrible, people will rage all over the internet of how horrible the game runs. NDA or not, people WILL post footage and tell their experience of the game. Of course, it is a beta and there are bound to be problems, but I think it is smarter to make sure the beta runs as smoothly as possible when they start inviting people.

I would be pretty dissapointed too, since it felt like he was almost sure it would start today or tommorow. And I also think it wasn't very smart to shout it of the roofs like that if you aren't 100% sure (even though he said barring any unforseen circunstances) Since he made it look like he was very sure of what he said. But trust me, this is better for the game

It's not going to be though. It's still going to be broken and in need of real testing.

A tech test is to make sure their servers don't crash every 10 minutes and that people can log in and play without their client crashing or getting horrible performance. You don't need a very large scale beta test for that. Just enough to populate the servers to a certain threshold.

Obviously the tech test isn't producing the results they originally planned and are working on updating the beta client. I heard rumors that there aren't even a lot of features enabled in the tech test. If that's true, that means they might not even be done coding up those features, or at least coded up to a point where they are sure that they can be properly beta tested.

The last thing you would want is some sort of unhandled exception to crash your game just because you clicked a button that called a function and failed. That's the kind of stuff they can iron out in the studio before releasing it to the public. Even a closed beta shouldn't suffer from those kind of issues. If I had to guess, that's what they are doing right now. Ironing out those errors and making sure the servers can handle some real testing.

I agree with the original poster, we all want them to do what they need to do.

Most people in the forums are pretty calm and collected about it, but please please do not attack or get mean about when is beta etc. etc. because if people give them crap it hurts everyone and the person that is angry. We all want to play the game but if you attack the devs or others they wont give us updates on the progress.

If you yell "WHENS BETA!" or " YOU SAID BETA WAS TODAY"

they will stop telling us how far its coming along.

Its still gonna have bugs and what not, but I trust them and so should you.

All the hate that the team are getting makes me a little sad to be a gamer.

Any dates that Smedley or the team have given have been ballparks and clearly stated to be as such, with possibility for said dates to change. Somebody said that some people do only see what they want to see and that is true but those people are idiots and SOE do not deserve hate because of said idiots.

In addition, this is a game that is still in development. It is unfinished and thus it can be unstable or generally experience problems that can delay things. Normally for a single player game this would be the case of it being pushed back which is not a new thing. For a multiplayer game with beta testing this is even more likely.

So, take a chill pill yeah

I agree but. Its getting to the point of stupidity now. I love updates, but keep giving this dates that aren't being kept, makes me question SOE somewhat. If they keep moving rough dates, can we even expect any timely patches or content once the game is out

I pretty much laughed when everyone was like it's today ZOMG!!! Don't get ur hopes up until they actually start letting people in. For the people who are all mad, cry in the corner. Would you rather download the game and be unable to play bc the game crashes all the time? Or would you rather wait, download it, and be able to play with minor hiccups?

Priorities, ppl.
