I don't think people should boycott PS2 because the lancer may not be in. On the grand scale of things was it really 1 particular weapon that made PS so addictive or was it the massive scale of the battles, besides the devs can't keep everyone happy. What about all the new player they are trying to attract. They will probably have a bitch at the fact they don't have a lock-on weapon when the other 2 factions do. On the other hand I never used the lancer when I played so WTF would I know.

In ps1 there was really difference between empires in AV weapons. Now everyone get their ES lockon weapon. No difference, it blends together. If every empire has to have lockon why not make it common pool and keep ES specific AV? |

I like it very cool
Thing was the only diff that the lancer had other than being amazing was it was not Lock on or User guided it was a very good all round AV gun for the reason you could see where the the other rockets are coming from aka the TR Striker and also the NC phoenix The Lancer was well a AV snipers dream |

The Lancer was fun to use but most importantly it was REWARDING to use, anyone could pick it up and be effective against larger (moving) vehicles upto 200 metres quite quickly. It also gave you opportunity of using it on smaller/faster targets, sure you might only hit 1 shot out of 6 on an ABing Mozzie 200 metres away but YOU still did it. You had the freedom to do whatever you wanted with the Lancer, that's why people liked it. Now they're just going to implement a 'wave-x-hair-vaguely-over-target' system. That's not fun(arguably) nor rewarding. |

The Fisison has good potential for the noob. The Lancer is good for people who know how to use it. So, a simple modification on the gun that changes it from Lock on to Lancer Style would do the job. Or two AV guns for all factions. VS Fission and Lancer, TR Striker and something like a fusion of the rocklet gun and the decimator (straight fire, high ROF), NC Phoenix and Deci. |

Honestly the striker and lancer were balanced very well in PS1 and sticking with similar designs would easily allow for both weapons to be available and both to be good for different situations. As easy as just using a firing mode thing on the fission, i would much prefer two different weapons. Allow for making a choice, less "one weapon to do eveyrhting". Since ps2 is more about unlocks and not very meaningful specialization, we will get enough br40 syndrome as is. Keep the weapons separate. BTW, a big fat HELL NO to camera guided weapons. They mentioned maybe bringing that back, do not do it. Its skill-less and majorly lame. And you cant defend against it like LoS weapons, it kills strategy and gameplay. The fun of trying to take cover and stay out of sight of your enemy while fighting is completely gone when fighting the current PS1 phoenix. I use it, or i should say abuse it, massively while on my NC toon. Its the best weapon to defend or attack a base with, hands down. Hide in safety and hit absolutely anything thats no indoors. They cant hide from it, nor can they attack you to get you to stop. Great idea in real life, crap idea for a game where you want things to promote good gameplay on both sides of an encounter.

Wouldn't it play into the VS theme of mobility if the Fission is actually both? Don't get me wrong I love the look and I'd love to see what a reskinned Lancer would look like but what if the Fission had 2 fire modes? One is the slower lock-on projectile as described and the secondary toggle fire is the old Lancer style charge-shot of old?
