Hey man, I didn't do it, the devs did when they fleshed out the lore :P
There are disparate factions within the NC. I love the corporate side, because I identify with it. That's the minority, though: the majority of the NC seem to be either mercenaries from (what I'd consider) paramilitary corporations (PMCs, like Academi, formerly known as Blackwater) or "idealistic freedom fighters" (civilians with guns, à la Free Syrian Army).
So there's room in the NC for people who don't give a fuck about the free market and just don't want to be oppressed or turned into alien hybrids

Good luck conducting a war with blazed soldiers haha. Getting off of a couch is a challenging enough feat while high. Hotdropping would be inconceivable (although the results would be hilarious).

Wouldnt you intervene?

"Disponsible" se dit "available" en anglais, mec
And yeah, intervention in that scenario would be the right thing. Managing the Vanu tech is crucial, but I'm not really clear on how the VS manage that. I doubt they give everyone access to manipulating the tech: they just want to use that tech to "improve" humanity, while preserving Auraxis.
