But as far as heavy assault goes, the MCG was all-around the easiest to use. Yes, the Jackhammer was the most powerful up close, but it HAD to be. It was a triple barreled shotgun. If you were more than 20 feet away, it did little more than get your enemy's attention. You might as well have tapped him on the shoulder and politely asked him to shoot you. Then there's the MCG... It took only slightly longer to kill someone up close than it did with the Jackhammer (if the guy with the JH missed even once, you would out damage him). Not to mention it was incredibly accurate for the amount of damage it put out at medium range. Combined with the high-rate of fire and large ammo capacity, it was very forgiving when used by a less-than-stellar marksman, and ruthlessly effective at any range when wielded by someone who knew how and when to burst fire. (Sorry Lasher, you were cool and had a neat ability to hit people around cover, and to damage heavy armor, but you just didn't cut it for me.) Now the Gauss Rifle I found to be the best MA weapon, because I used it at medium and long distances constantly. I'm an excellent shot, so the trade off of rate of fire/mag size for power was a great deal for me, and anyone else who was a good shot. However, just like the JH, if you missed even a little bit up close, your enemy was going to out damage you quickly. The Cycler... man, the Cycler was pretty shitty. I will absolutely concede that point (although it had a sweet reload animation :P). It was great for beginners because it was easy to use, but had no real potential to be excellent, even in the hands of an expert. Sure, an expert could obviously kill people with it, but they would always be better off with something else. (With the addition of headshots in PlanetSide 2, I think the Cycler, or a gun very much like it, will find itself to be a lot more powerful than it once was.) Now the Pulsar RIPPED shit up at close and medium-close range. Right in between the power of the NC and rate of fire of the TR, combined with the way the shots spread, anything between right-up-close and medium range got melted like a Gummi Bear in a microwave. (Disclaimer; don't put Gummi Bears in your microwave unless you want to see what would actually happen to someone pelted with plasma... and you were going to clean your microwave anyway). As far as the Phoenix is concerned... Well, it was amazing, or useless, depending on the situation. On the defense, the thing was godly. On attack, it was a liability. Constantly having to stop to find cover to fire is not at all conducive to rushing an objective. You were better off just using dumb-fire mode, or better yet, a Decimator. So, basically, a situational weapon just like the Jackhammer. In the right circumstance it's hands-down the best... In another, it's useless. Also, when I tried playing as TR and VS, I had SO much fun as a cloaker knifing people camping with Phoenixes. Just saying. The Striker and the Lancer were both decent in their roles, and definitely much better than the Phoenix at toe-to-toe fights. An expert with the Lancer, however, had the edge in my eyes. They just seemed to do the most damage the fastest, but it was probably the hardest of the AA guns to master. |

I remember stealing a Beamer, switching to armour piercing mode, and killing a MAX with it.
He kept circling around the tower to try and find me, but couldn't see for shit because of the dust storm currently raging. It took probably 5 minutes, lots of hiding, and 2 boxes of ammo... Ah, good times... |

Another Poll format could have been as follow:
1. TR first choice. 2. NC first choice. 3. VS first choice. 4. TR second choice. 5. NC second choice. 6. VS second choice. Maybe sometime into beta we may re poll this. |

The NC. Was going with Terran at first, but the gaming community I'm in is leaning towards the NC and I can see the charm in both sides- So I prioritize playing with loads of my friends, rather than playing one team alone which I prefer just a little bit more at the moment.
