So he shot around the corner? Didn't he admit to following him...?

I think the charges fit, based on what little we know. Zimmerman called 911. Operator told him not to follow. He followed anyway. Something happened. Martin ended up dead. A charge of 2nd degree murder seems perfect to me. The facts, or at least the two sides of the story, will all come out in court, and 12 idiots will get to decide.
I'm happy its out of the court of public opinion. Not that I'm always happy with the courts. Casey Anthony, anyone? |

I have to say, Malorn, that it sounds less like you want to get to the truth, and more like you want the prosecution to fail. Unless you know the truth, which you can't because none of us do, I have to wonder as to your motivation. This isn't meant to be a 'gotcha' question, by the way. I am honestly curious, because isn't this why we have courts and trials and such? To get to the truth?
A human being lost his life. Don't you think that's worth there being an inquiry? If the District Attorney went for 2nd degree (and not, say, manslaughter) it must mean they feel they have reason to believe the charges are valid (though I will say I'm a bit surprised at the ambition of the full 2nd degree). It's very likely they have access to information we in the peanut gallery lack. And in any case, wouldn't this be a golden opportunity for Zimmerman to clear his name, in the court of law, which has binding resolutions, rather than the court of public opinion, which does not? |

The "shot around the the corner" comment was sarcasm. If he didn't follow him, how exactly did he shoot him?

I don't think he's guilty. I don't think he's innocent. I'm not sure I ever suggested he was one or the other, and if I gave that impression, it was in error.
I've just wanted him arrested and the event investigated. He was, they were, he's been charged. We'll see what happens. I'm just happy the wheels of justice are turning, for one or the other. |

It is not in question whether he pursued Martin or not. Nor is it uncertain that Martin ran away from him, as Zimmerman says he did, the 911 call indicates he did, and Martin's girlfriend said he did. Martin ran. Zimmerman chased after him. The only question is what happened next. |
