Just got a WD Raptor. Its doing pretty decent, but can't say I seriously notice an everyday speed increase. It defintely blows through WinXP install. I'll put a second one in soon and do a 16k cluster Raid0 and sure I'll see some real help.

Was very tempted to get the new Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9 200GB SATA drive, was like $269. Stats were rather nice, faster seek/read times than their smaller SATA drives. Haven't heard much about WD's 250GB SATA drive yet.

But I needed an OS drive more than a mass storage drive. I can't stand to have my OS drive really big, b/c its gonna get wiped eventually and partitions make performance go to crap eventually.
