Hey guys
I played in beta aight, and downloaded the 7 day trial yesterday coz I wanted to have another go at PlanetSide before I consider buying it. I've spent the first day of my trial attempting to PATCH PlanetSide. Im on 512kb DSL and the download speed is pathetic. Sometimes it will download for a bit, then stop entirely for about an hour, causing me to restart the program in an attempt to spark the download again. Sometimes I start it up and it just sits there doing nothing, but even when it does finally download something, it does it incredibly slow. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? I live in Australia, and while that could be a factor. I had absolutely no trouble whatsoever patching back in beta, and judging by the official chatrooms, the game may have been more popular back then, meaning server load probably isn't the problem. I pinged the IPs I found in the client.ini and got 200 ping to them. Heeeeeeeelp. |

Oh well.. After doing some comparison, I've come to the conclusion that it is just my ISP causing the problem, as I was not on the same ISP back in beta.
I guess thats what I get for going for the unlimited alternate DSL network in Australia. I should have known the evil corporate telco giants always have something to uphold the f*cking monopoly. I guess I'll stop posting on PSU altogether, since I won't be playing PS until I at least change ISP, and that won't be for a fairly long time. I was so lookin forward to playin again. Bah. /me goes to relieve anger on something |

Yeah, that sounds about right. Especially considering that I was observing my download speed, which sporadically downloaded in little bursts, or just not at all for hours. Your unbelievably enlightening input has completely fixed my problem! Thanks heaps.
