We're posting damage numbers in another thread, and without mucking that thread up I wanted some clarification on damage that weapons do. For instance, in that thread it is stated that on a soft target the Striker does 15/35 damage (first number being health and the second being armor). If the armor has been completely destroyed prior to this fight beginning, would a shot just take an even 50 off of the health? In other words, would excess damage from the armor roll over to health once armor was lost?

As an infiltrator I have taken a direct hit with a decimator and it has brought me down by exactly 50 hp. I would assume that it does 25/25 (or something like that) to people with armor.
After all, weapon do a set damage, divded by health and armor, if all weapons did the same damage to health regardless of armor then what would be the point of armor? In my example the armor would have probably absorbed a portion of the damage thus making someone in reinforced be able to take more hits than an infiltrator. Ever notice that when you armor is gone you seem to take more damage from everything? And notice how at the same time you can die before your armor wears out because some things do more damage to health than armor. (knives, sniper rifles...) EDIT: God that was a lot of typos... I'm sure that you take more damage without armor, I'm just curious if it's a straight across transfer. Would a shot that should have taken 30 armor off take off 30 health if you're out of armor, or is it maybe 1/2 health damage making it take 15 health? My suspicion is that it's a straight across transfer, I just didn't know if somebody knew for sure.

It is a straight transfer. a sniper bullet is 65/35 (health/armor). with my reinforced exo suit at full health and armor, it brings me down to 35 health and 115 armor. 65 + 35 is 100. now on an infiltrator, they have 100 health and a sniper bullet is one shot on infiltrators.

Reinforced exo is more than just 50 extra armor. It absorbs more damage per shot than agile and standard do.
Agile absorbs more than standard does, also. I know damage is divided up into direct and aggravated(ie. plasma grenade), and possibly one more. This is why in agile 1 sniper shot will drop you to 25, and 35 in reinforced. I'll probably have the actual numbers tomorrow after I play around. |
