Mobo question.

Ok i've got an Asus A7A-266.

Now i know i can add my DDR ram no prob, right now i've got 256 PC2100 but for PS i'll be adding at least 512.

Now my question though is will my mobo support the 9700pro? What about the FX?

I don't mind buying more ram and a new VPU for PS but if i have to add to that a new mobo well PS will have to wait i think ...

If your mobo has an AGP slot, then I don't see why it wouldn't support the 9700. Make sure you have at least a 300 watt power supply in your PC if you want the 9700. Of course if your Mobo doesn't do 8X AGP, you won't get every ounce of performance out of the 9700, but you can always upgrade the mobo later as well.

The GeForce FX is also 8x agp but it will still be a beast running on 4x.

I OWN the Radeon 9700 pro. It's worth every damn penny. I am running it on an older mobo, with a 4x agp max. I also am running it on a 250w power supply (for now). The reason I got it now was that I can max it out, and max out what my comp can use and display. Then I can upgrade other hardware, and still max it out. It's a great card, and DX9 and the cards catalyst drivers are AWESOME. Hell, they even have special screen savers you can download just to utilize some of it's bad ass options.

Plus it's a cinch to install. Just follow the booklet.

Get the Pro if you can afford it. I look at it like this, I won't have to upgrade video cards for about 2-3 years now. Instead of upgrading medium cards every one year for 150 bucks or so.

I have the radeon 9700 pro but I think I'll upgrade in like 6 mo to a year. Probably a year. You need to upgrade something every year, it's a rule.

Well i'm getting the 9700pro for sure if i don't get the FX, seeing as the FX will surely cost 5 grand Can i'll most likely go with the ATI.

My mobo also has a 4xAGP max i think, power supply is a 350.

Wish i could win the loto a few weeks before march.
