Now that OBO is so close, I was thinking a player should get a weapons lock instantly if he kills the same friendly player more than three times in a two-hour period or if he kills more than three members of the same friendly outfit in a one-hour period. I guarantee there will be TK problems with OBO because as the bases are owned longer and longer, the tempatation for attacking teams to log in spy characters from other accounts to subvert the base defense will be epidemic. Which CR5 will it be who promises his troops that huge BEP payoff and then logs in on his scrub character and TKs the people guarding the generator with complete impunity? Surely it is obvious that RPG style "possession" of bases (houses) is going to create territorialistic urges, as it does in every other mmorpg that uses them.
The chances of killing the same person three times in a week by genuinely accidental friendly-fire are so low that there's absolutely no risk of punishing an innocent person by limiting the time-frame to two hours. TK wars are a form of grief to those not involved. It's time to stop the bullshit. If you want to TK, go back to Counterstrike. SOE might find themselves forced to start taking punitive action against these chucklenut egotists that think they have the right to degrade everyone else's fun. They don't.

I dunno, i agree that tking will probably go up, but instant weapons lock might be a lil harsh. What if you are in a tower battle and accidently kill the same guy three times? There are a lot of times that that may happen, especially if there is an ams nearby. And outfits? What if there is an outfit and a couple of other people attacking a tower? One plasma nade could get u instant weapon lock if it kills 3 wore down outfit members...
I dunno, but i hope the griefing doesnt become sooooo bad that it comes down to instant weapon locks |

I agree that multiple outfit killers should be punished more harshly. However, as always I think the whole greif system needs looked at. I feel the devs aren't even consiering the options.
I'm in weapons lock for using a tank 5 mins ago. Not one single person comaplined at getting killed, they all knew it was accidental, and to be expected with 3 magriders and a few lightnings pumeling a base full of vanguards and enemy lightnings. Considering the number of vanguard and lightning kills I was racking up my fire was totaly justified, as were the others raining down hell on the enemy. Infantry, use tha back door! This isn't the army. We cant make people hold back while we open up with artillery. We NEED a "punish" option. Somone kills you, you hit "P" if you want, if you feel it was acidental or worth it, you don't. ( for example by killing you, did he also take out a max that would mow down your squad mates, a max that you had little or no chance of taking down? Or were you an iniltrator trying to sneak past the enemy, dodging in front of friendly fire.) An alternative would be to make the greif points go down faster. This would also work in OBO. One guys kills a few guys in the same outfit in a row, they all hit "P" on the keyboard, and the offender is slapped into shackles. [edit] i didnt rack up 1000 points. I racked up about 200. Since greif goes down so slowly, heavy players of the game will find it veeery slow to go down. Greif should at the very least be based on the amount of time you play for.

So then you already had 800+ points? and managed to get the last 200 and go into weapons lock.
I still don't get it. Sure I used the thumper. Sure my grief went through the roof. Sure I stopped using it. Watching a weapon you use cause more grief than any other weapon means you probably shouldn't use it. I no longer use the thumper I cause more harm than good with it. The grief system is fine. Pay attention and don't drop plasma nades or frag grenades from the back row into a cramped hallway. The Devs prolly aren't looking at it cause people who hate the system in my opinion are in the minority and they have more pressing concerns.

The thumper should be used on the walls of a base during a zerg, nothing more. If you want to stop using it thats up to you. Magriders in a direct assault versus vanguards and getting locked is a peice of nonsense. There was something slightly incorrect about what I said. I actualy KILLED very few of my own team. The greif i got came from damaging them.
Most ff was caused by idiots like these darting between my constant fire, and an enemy target they have NO chance of damaging. http://mysite.freeserve.com/terahert...enShot0007.JPG (this is from the actual battle I got locked out in)

Just like people go around destroying friendly modules and enemy modules without relocating them to friendly bases to try to subvert Core Combat (effectively, I might add), I am 100% certain that these gimps will mess with OBO just to claim to be the first to do it (kinda like being the first to drink out of a dog's footprint if you ask me, but some people get off on it).
Guess we'll wait and see.

one problem with the OBO idea you have is that one platoon or less can come in and cap the base(depending on the defending outfits size, ect) the rest of that outfit will be able to hold that base. 30 min later, that platoon's weapons lock is off.
also, as someone else stated, killing the same friendly more than 3 times in 2 hours is unlikely, but possible. how would you like it if you didn't kill that friendly on purpose, but you got a weapons lock?
not trying to shoot down your ideas, but, just pointing out my opinion. i think instant wepeons lock for certain circumstances is a good idea, just needs tweeking. i like the "p" idea. but then i feel the value of grief points needs to be re-evaluated. then you can also have griefers that might constantly jump in front of your vehicle or your line of fire just to make you get a weapons lock. so now we have to try to prevent another form of grief...*sigh* devs must work hard to balance their ideas out. |

Yup, it's devs vs. griefers but the devs are actually getting paid per hour that they fight. Justice is served.
